After losing in Lakefield last Sunday, and being edged 3-2 in a squeaker in Ajax, Tuesday, Bowman- vilie's Jr. C. entry hit a positive positive note on Sunday with a 5-' 1 victory over the visiting Lindsay Trent Muskies. Last Tuesday with shots on net for both teams being up in the 40's and each goalie rising to the occasion, it came down to, "who was going going to get the breaks?" A break it was with the Ajax player exploding from the, penalty box, and picking up 1 a lead pass behind the Bowmanville Bowmanville defense. He then finished the play off by put : . ting the puck by Darrin Bunker, who gave his best shot, as he had been doing all night, quite successfully. This was the winning goal, snapping a 2-2 tie which gave Ajax the home ice victory Bowmanville had led 2-0 after one on goals by Shane Armstrong from Hickey and Goode, and by Baumhauer from Flintoff and Shane Armstrong. Ajax scored one in the second second on the power play and the equalizer in the third, setting setting the stage for the finish. Sunday night at home the Eagles welcomed the return of Brian Noble and Paul Renaud. Renaud. A penalty-filled first period saw the locals send six to the sin bin. and the Muskies five, with Lindsay scoring on Bowmanville's first infraction. The trips to the penalty box continued in the second sev- amp- bell potted his first of the night at 10:24 from Pithie and Stone. Grey Goode hit on the power play three minutes minutes later from Shane Armstrong Armstrong and Brian Noble to give the Eagles the lead they never relinquished. Glen Campbell took a break-away pass from Steve Flintoff and goal-tender Scott Webster to tally a short-handed goal with 16 seconds left in the second. The third period saw six penalties assessed to each team, and the Goodyear crew scored twice. Slmwn Rckker potted one two minutes minutes into the third from Mark Hickey, and Gareth Stone closed the scoring from Glen Campbell and George Pithie. Wing Tips The Eagles' penaltykilling penaltykilling is in good form to make up for wnat appears to be unnecessary infractions. It is true also that hockey is an aggressive game and sometimes a penalty is a judgement call that may be part of the action. However, there However, there are times when a little harder work and concentration concentration would prevent a penally. There certainly was a great deal of evidence from the passing and checking on Sunday that the boys can play well as a team. We hope this continues in most future games. A key game is coming up Tuesday, December 6, which is now behind us but the return return of former Eagles Troy Foster and Chris Pearce should make for some interesting interesting rivalry. The Eagles are off to Trenton Friday, December 9th at 8:30 and home on the 11th to Madoc. Bowmanville is supposed to be in Lindsay Monday, December 12th but the opening of their Muskie pond is still uncertain. See you Sunday. Time 9:30 p.m. -Third game of the day. I think the time of the game says it all. The team played the first game of the day and now the last. The visitors scored the only goal in the first and two more in the second for a 3-0 lead.
