Some of the kindergarten classes are playing listening games with Christmas bells. They are making Christmas gifts out of material, paper, jars and other objects. I bet they'll all have fun. Choir Goes to Marnwood Recently the Junior Choir went to Marnwood Senior Citizens' Residence to sing for some people at the nursing nursing home. They went by bus and were gone about an hour. The choir sang some Christmas carols and the people really enjoyed the music. Some were even crying crying because it brought back some old memories. I think that the nursing home is a special place. Thanks to Mr. Gray and Miss Pitcher, we were able to make a lot of people very happy. -Amy Ramage. Volleyball at Waverley Lately Waverley has been getting our Volleyball teams ready for both the boys and girls. There are grades five and six on the teams. Mrs. Purrott and Mr. Gray are coaching the girls, and Miss Donafeld and Mr. Carlisle are coaching the boys. Mrs. Purrott and Mr. Gray chose to have an "A" team and a "B" team. The "A" team are a bit better than the "B" team (mind you they aren't anything anything to sneeze at). The "A" team will go to compete against other schools, while taking 3-4 players from the "B" team to substitute. On Monday, December 12 Mrs. Purrott chose 9 girls to be on the "A" team. A couple of them are Jackie Ellis, Lindsey Lindsey Mack and Amy Burgess. Also on Thursday, December December 15 she chose 12 girls to be on the "B" team. Two of them are Chastity Rhude, Heather Youngman - and. myself. Meanwhile, the boys have been getting their team ready. Miss Donafeld and Mr. Carlisle have picked a team of good ability. They learned how to serve, bump, volley, rotate, and all the rules of the game. They also plan to practice 2 or 3 times a week after the Christmas Holiday and also learn a couple of new skills. They again have two teams. There are six players on the first team but there are also three people that play off and on. Then there is a back-up team. We have great teams and it should be good fun. -Heather Youngman. Our Journalist Club Members: Each week one of our Journalists will write a short story about himself or herself. herself. This week our feature journalist is Amy Ramage: Hi! My name is Amy. I have asthma and it is not very much fun because I have trouble breathing at times and I have to go for a needle every week. I like to read, write, and play with my friends. I also like school too. My hobbies are dancing, singing, and listening to the radio. I have a little brother who can sometimes be a pest. Well, if I keep on telling you about myself, I'll be here all day so bye! <* K > Christmas Poems *» Santa certainly gets around. On Saturday morn- and sponsorship of Bowmanville Kinsmen. Dear Mr. Decoration As I sit in this box, I wonder, What is my life worth, Maybe the ten dollars the people paid. For me, I doubt it. Every year I am stood up and stared at, Then they hang you guys on me, After a while, They take off my arms and legs, Ana stuff me back into that dark box. Tell me, what for? From Mr. Artificial Christmas Tree. In the Christmas Spirit The Christmas feeling, we hang the tree, The Christmas feeling, we make lists, The Christmas feeling, we think of you not me, The Christmas feeling, we hide our fists, The Christmas feeling, we jump around, The Christmas feeling, we open our gifts, The Christmas feeling, we settle down, The Christmas feeling, we get a big wet kiss, From Aunt Martha. By Nathan Farr. A Child's Christmas Soft Christmas jingle bells are heard over the sound Of the crisp bright white snow flakes hitting the ground The singing of Christmas Carols fill us with glee As children carefully decorate decorate their tree Thinking about what is to come in just a few nights Brings happiness and joy and gets rid of their frights As Santa is coming to bring them some gifts To brighten their thoughts their spirits to lift And when he arrives on that special night The children can't wait to turn on the light So early in the morning they awake to behold The many great presents, some have been wrapped others were rolled To see what surprises Santa has brought Remembering to be patient patient as they had been taught For their parents and relatives relatives to awaken at last Then they run down the stairs fast, fast, fast When they arrive at the tree on that great Christmas morn How fast all the wrappings wrappings and ribbons are torn For the children want to know just what they've gotten gotten And then they remember just what they've forgotten That Christmas day was the day baby Jesus was born To save us from sin and God's awful scorn.
