A good evening for all attending! Nestleton United Church On Sunday morning, Jan. 29, 11:15 a.m, a spring-like day, which brought forth many worshippers worshippers to Church and S. School. David Malcolm was the friendly greeter at the door. The children enjoyed their time with Intern Minister Norman Seli with an interesting interesting period about "Signs from God" before attending classes. The four part choir sang a fine anthem accompanied by Carol Mairs on the piano. Rev. Dale Davis used as his topic, "Ready To Serve" re: commitments, commitments, etc. in church life..a most timely theme! A very impressive Dedication ceremony was carried out by Rev. Dale Davis. Two lovely vases (made by Anne Emerson) were dedicated in memory of Ella Bowers by the Nestleton United Church Women. Beautiful silk flowers enhanced the decorative vases. Members of the family were present for the occasion..Bert occasion..Bert & Marilyn Bowers of Oshawa, Ralph & Ceciie Bowers of Tyrone and Dorothy Carson of Huntsville. After the service..a luncheon of sandwiches and cookies with tea or coffee were served by' the United Church Women before the congregational meeting was held. , We hope the Goundhog won't see his shadow on Thursday, February 2nd! At the Bowmanville Novice Novice hockey tournament this past weekend, Victoria and Grey faced off against their house league rival, Carter's in their first game of the day. V&G got . off to a slow start, allowing Carter's to jump into a 4-0 lead on goals by Paul Drummond (2), Jeff Carter and Richard Solomon. Solomon. V&G came to life for the third period. Dave Leppert scored in the opening minute of third for V & G and then Craig Matheson closed the gap, adding a goal assisted by Mike McCrory. Carter's defence proved too tight and held on tor the 4-2 victory. V&G's next match-up was again against a BRHL team. This time Bonded paving provided the opposition. In a tight checking contest V&G edged out Bonded 2-1. Mike McCrory opened the scoring from Jamie Austin then Ryan Turcotte added another another for a 2-0 V&G lead. Great goal tending at both ends by Bonded's Ryan McRoberts and V&G's Andrew Pitt held the sniper's off the board until until late in the third Guy Tou- signant finally broke Andrew Andrew Pitt's shut-out. V&G then advanced to the "B" final against Holy Family. This proved not to be V&G's day as Holy Family Family captured the "B" champi onship.
