Four Weekend Wins for Hutton Crimestoppers Seeking Help in Solving Jewellery Theft Hutton Transport of the BRHL Atom Division started started their busy weekend early on Saturday, February 4 in the Bowmanville Recreation Complex in an exhibition game against Holy Cross from Oshawa CYO. A low slap shot into the far corner by Les McCrory started the scoring early in the first period. The Hutton defense left a player unguarded unguarded in front of the net resulting in an Oshawa goal. Before the first period was over the Oshawa team scored once more to take the lead. Midway through the second second period, Les McCrory's wrist shot goal evened the score. A nice passing play from Peter Schoep and Alex Walcer netted a goal for Mike Ferguson. A pass from Brad Read back to the point allowed Peter Schoep to score on a slap shot. In the third period, while two men short, Les McCrory stick handled his way through the Oshawa defense and then drove the puck into the back of the ■ net with a slap shot high into the far corner. Final score was 5-2 in favour of Hutton. At noon, Hutton Transport Transport played a regularly scheduled league game against the team sponsored by T-Mac. In a 15-0 blowout the following Hutton players earned points: Les McCrory (3G.2A), Curtis Cournevea (3G.2A), Alex Walcer (2G,1A), Mike Ferguson (2G.1A), Jeff Hughes (1G.2A), Brad Read (2G), Greg Knox (2G), Niall O'Donnell (1A), Colin Galin- ski (1A) and Paul Hollingsworth Hollingsworth (1A). On Sunday morning the Truckers hosted North Oshawa in the Darlington Arena and skated to a 5-3 victory in a game in which the visitors were assessed 10 penalties to Hutton's one. Jeff Hughes scored three times as well as assisting on a goal by Greg Knox. Mike Ferguson earned a goal and an assist while Brian Ho- genhout, Les McCrory and Curtis Courneyea each were credited with an assist. Hutton's final game of the weekend came on Sunday Sunday night in the Newcastle Arena when they faced off against Ajax Dot Realty. Tne final results looked more like a football score with Hutton defeating Ajax 13-6. Filling in for the regular regular goaltenaer, Peter Schoep performed well between the pipes making many good stops. World Day of Prayer in March The political upheaval in Burma of the past year was not imagined when Christian Christian women of Burma wrote the 1989 World Day of Prayer service. It is three years since they began the task that will culminate on Friday, March 3, 1989 when people from 170 countries participate participate in the World Day of Prayer. The theme, "Lord,Teach Us To Pray" was chosen by the International Committee Committee for the World Day of Prayer at its quadrennial meeting in May 1986. Alice Jean Finlay from Ontario, Canada, as President of the International Committee,met Committee,met with the Burmese writers in November 1986 to discuss the need for an ecumenical ecumenical worship service that reflected the concerns and spirituality of Burmese Christian women. In Canada, the service is sponsored by Women's Inter-Church Inter-Church Council of Canada Canada and arranged by local ecumenical ecumenical groups in over 3000 communities. The offering offering is used by Women's Inter-Church Council of Canada to provide resources for the service programme materials for women's groups, and to support ecumenical ecumenical projects in Canada and abroad. Everyone is invited to share in this 102 year tradition tradition of recognizing our need for God's guidance as we struggle with the issues facing facing our world. The girl gave chase and caught the suspect as he tried to climb over a fence at the corner corner of Hobbs and Ashdale. She grabbed his jacket to pull him down but he turned around and punched her in the face, causing her to fall down and hit her head. The suspect then ran away. Stolen from the house were two burgundy leather brief cases containing bracelets, bracelets, charms, rings and other jewellery valued at over $100,000. The suspect is described as a white male, tall, in his 20's wearing black jeans, black nylon jacket, construction construction boots and a black wool toque. At the time the girl chased the suspect he wasn't carrying anything. This would indicate that there had been a second suspect who wasn't seen or that the thief had already taken the briefcases out and had gone back into the house for the second time. A re-enactment of this theft will be shown on CITY TV, channel 7, cable 57, on Thursday, Februaiw 9 during during the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. news. It will also be shown on CHEX TV Peterborough and CKVR in Barrie on Friday, Friday, February 1Ô, again during during their news.
