In this study unit they are working on Magnets Magnets and Magnetic force. There are two groups. Group 1 goes to Mrs. Anyan (Wa- vcrley's Librarian) and makes a booklet and Group 2 goes to Miss Pitcher and experiments with magnets, molecules land iron filings. Mrs. Anyan's group had to answer 13 questions and make a cover and title page and display them for the grades 1, 2 and 3. Miss Pitcher's group has done two experiments so far. One was to put two bar magnets under under newspaper with the paper over them. Then they sprinkled a little bit of iron filings on it to see what kind of magnetic field it had. In the second experiment they took a magnet and a bucket of water and they put paper clips in the water so see if a magnet will attract under water and guess what? It worked! She started this job 12 years ago but for the last 4 years has been going to different schools and talking to schools in the Bowmanville area. She talks to children about how to brush their teeth, what snacks to cat and how to prevent cavities. She also talks about other things. It is for teachers only. They had to draw names and whoever they picked was their secret friend. Most teachers participated. participated. They had to buy a gift for their secret friend and put it in the teachers' mail box. On Friday they went to the staffroom to see who their secret friend was. They arc doing a weather unit with Ms. Dona- feld's class. In this unit they have eleven centres and they move back and forth between the two classes. They are keeping track of the weather to see if the groundhog on Groundhog's Day was really right. In some of their centres they are making thermometers and they arc learning about clouds, snow and weather instruments. They are almost almost finished learning capital capital written letters. While doing doing this they also learned all of the different rules for where capitals go. In reading reading they are also doing centres centres and in Math it is regrouping regrouping and carrying. On February 15 it was the 100th day of school. On that day her class brought 100 different things in to school. Then they did different activities activities with those things.
