Three Point Day for Hydro Atoms I Hutton Splits Week-end On Saturday, March 5th, the Ontario Hydro Employe's' Employe's' Union Atom hockey team added three more points to their regular seasonal seasonal total. Two points were earned by winning an early morning game against the team sponsored by J&J Sharpening. The third point was the result of a tie that afternoon against the 401 Esso team. The first game started at 7:00 a.m. which had their die-hard fans wondering if they were awake enough to play! However, the moment the puck was dropped to start the first period, those concerns were shown to be unfounded. In spite of a consistent and strong offence, the Hydro. Hydro. Union players were unable unable to put the scorekeeper to work in the opening period. period. Meanwhile their goalie, Jason Barr, managed to frustrate the J&J forwards by shutting them down. It wasn't until 13:49 of the second second period that the first goal ' was scored. At that point, Travis Laughlin passed the puck to right-winger Jeff Crawford, who finally managed managed to foil the J&J goalie. For the next 10 minutes, both teams moved the puck from end to end but both goalies refused to allow further further scoring. Finally in the last three minutes of the second period, J&J tied the game. Going into the third with a 1-1 tie, the pace of the game quickened but it wasn't until the middle of that period that the tie was broken. Digger Darryl Cook made good a pass from Kyle Shackleton and the Hydro Union team went ahead one goal. However, in this "seesaw" "seesaw" battle, J&J countered with another tying goal three minutes later.
