Happenings at Waverley Public School Hickory, Hickory, Docki by Rebecca Vatcher Mrs. Robinson who teaches teaches Kindergarten and Mrs. Anyan our Librarian have gotten together and are doing doing a "Mice Unit" with the kindergarten class. Since the children are younger, they have easier activities such as math, mouse bookmarks, bookmarks, cut and paste and listening. Near the beginning of the year she taught them the theory of music and she gave them a test. Lately they have been working on "Oral Presentations".They pick a modern music group or artist and find information information about them, examples are George Michael, Michael Jackson and Bruce Springsteen. Partners In Action by Amy Ramage Partners In Action occurs when the librarian and a teacher get together and work on a study unit for the class. Mrs. Trbovich and Ms. Porter are working on a unit called Native People. They are talking about three different different kinds of homes of the Native People. They are Pacific Pacific Coast, Plains and the Great Lakes. Half of the class goes to the library and they read and research about the homes and draw posters about them. In the class rooms they study other things in the lives of the Native Native People, and they see filmstrips. They will complete complete this unit in about a month. Well, this unit sounds like a lot of fun. Skaters Take Part In Unicorn Competition On February 18th at the Oshawa Skating Club. Unicorn Unicorn Fair competition took place. Our club is veiy proud of all those who participated in this competition. The objective objective of the Unicorn Fair, as stated by Chairperson Gail Podrats, is to make all of the competitors feel as special as they are. Where a child places is not important, important, the important thing is that they remember that day with good feelings.
