The son of the late Neil and Gertrude Mutton, he was born in Bowmanville and was married on November November 15, 1941, to Thelma Halleran. A resident at 95 Concession Concession Street where he was born and raised he had farmed until the age of 54. He had been employed with Smith Transport and Snowden Snowden Rubber until retirement. retirement. For the past six years he had resided in Oshawa. Ltd. Tom Sobil An owner and operator of Pebblestone Golf Course, Tom Sobil dic'd suddenly at the Oshawa General Hospital Hospital on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 1989. He was a resident of Bow- mnnvile and was born in Toronto Toronto on March 7,1911. Mr. Sobil purchased a farm in Bowmanville and farmed the land until he opened the Pebblestone Golf Course on that site. He operated operated the golf course along with his brothers Steve and Paul. He also worked at General Motors of Canada for 35 years and retired in 1982. He was an active member of Zion United Church. _ Mr. Sobil is survived by his wife, the former Eileen Stain ton, his brothers, Frank and his wife Goldie, and Peter and his wife Ann of Bowmanville, Steve and his wife Phyllis of Columbus, Columbus, and Paul and his wife Shirley of Mitchell's Corners; Corners; a sister, Mae Lyczba of Oshawa, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Berenice and Adam Hawley of Peterborough. Marion Louise Stacey Marion Louise Stacey was born in Quaker Valley (Kingston Township) in a little little log cabin in 1909. She was tne fourth eldest child of the late James Edward Silver and his wife, the former former Susan Bell Jackson. She was educated at the public school and church at Elginburg, Kingston Collegiate, Collegiate, and Colbome Free Methodist Church, and Peterborough Peterborough Teachers' College College (Normal School) graduating graduating in 1928. She taught at Woodbine Public School in Westbrook, at Coe Hill, Young's Point, and Enniskillen. Enniskillen. She married Walter Mansell Stacey in the Queen's University Chapel Kingston, July 29, 1936. They lived for several years in Oshawa where Mansell taught, and in 1944 moved to Bowmanville when her husband joined the teaching staff at the Bowmanville High School. Marion was an accomplished accomplished artist and had entered entered several paintings in exhibitions, ana was an active active member of St. Paul's United Church and Durham Chapter #181, Eastern Star. Sne lived in Bowmanville until 1978 when she moved to Napanee. Marion will be sadly missed by her three children John, Loran, and Carolyn and their spouses; her six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two sisters sisters Evelyn Mandoles and Eleanor Brown and their families, five brothers Harold, Harold, Charles, Clarence, Alfred, Alfred, and Percy and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Mansell who passed away in 1983, brothers brothers Glen, Kenneth, Ernest, and Elwood Silver, and a sister Dorothy Tuschen. Interment Mount Lawn Cemetery. HOWARD EDWARD ORMISTON In failing health the past five months, Howard Edward Edward Ormiston aged 68. died in Oshawa General Hospital on Friday , February February 10,1989. Born in Enfield and educated educated in Enfield and Enniskillen, Enniskillen, he was the son of the late Edwin and Greta Ormiston. Ormiston. He was married to Catherine Agnes Minto, on August 24,1946. He had resided resided in Bowmanville for the past 31 years., He was employed as a daiiyman, served in the armed forces and as a salesman salesman prior to employment at General Motors Corporation Oshawa for about 26 years retiring in 1978 with the position position of foreman. A member of Trinity United Church, he was also a member of Branch 178 Royal Canadian Legion, the Bowmanville Country Club and the Oshawa Curling Club. He served overseas with the rank of LAC in the RCAF from 1941-46. An ardent sports fan he was an avid curler for many years, and also enjoyed golfing, golfing, boating, fishing and cottage cottage life. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Catherine, daughters Dianne Wallace and Beatrice Hancock, a son David, daughter-in-law Mary, five grandsons a brother Ralph and a sister Elaine Baker. The Reverend Frank Lockhart officiated at the funeral funeral services, held Monday at the Northcutt Elliott Funeral Funeral Home, Bowmanville. Pallbearers were Messrs.
