April 26,1989 Hamilton Takes Atom Trophy Boys Ball Hockey League Starts Second Year of Play Newcastle Students Win Awards in Science Fair At the Darlington Auto Atom Select hockey tournament tournament on Sunday, April 16 in Newcastle Arena, two teams from Hamilton competed in the A final, with Hamilton Rosedale downing Mount Hamilton Blues 3- 2 for the pennant. Scott McLean and Stephen Saxon accepted the awards for the winners, presented by tournament chairman John Freeman. Oshawa ÔCHL won the B title over Oshawa NASC. The B.B.B.H. League will start its secondyear of operation. operation. They will be expanding expanding from a one division with four team to a Jr. and Sr. division division with four teams in each. The schedule starts May 1st with the Jr's playing Monday evenings and the Sr's on Wednesday. All teams will play eleven games plus two tournament games. The final day being Saturday July 15th with all games being played at the new recreation complex. Monday and Wednesday games will be played at 6:30 and 7:30 respectively. Since this league was designed designed for fun, the first two games will be evaluation games to make sure one team is not overpowering. The B.B.B.H. League is strictly a non-profit organization, organization, organized by four -volunteers, with several parents parents acting as coaches. The registration fee covers all expenses. expenses.
