Debbie Hayes, Larry Hardcastle, Harvey Harvey Vogels and Jerry Masterson. apfiRTO Memorial Park All-Star Tykes Earn Runner-up Championship FLASHBACK --10 YEARS AGO -- The Bowmanvillc Pigeon Racing Club held an invitational race on Saturday, Saturday, June 29, starling from Grand Mere, a distance of 347 air miles. Winners were Jack and Paul Skinner whose birds took first and second place. Third place went to Jimmy Grant and fourth to Dave Woolner and Sons. Ted Brown won fifth. The team beat Clinton 26-5 in the first game and then scored a thrilling, thrilling, come-from-behind victory over Bolton with a 6-4 decision. Bowmanville 623-6353 Flames and Spitfires Win Ball Hockey Tournament The Bowmanvillc Boys Ball Hockey league completed completed their second season with the final tournament being played at the Sports Complex Complex on Saturday, July 15. The Flames defeated the Penguins for the Senior Championship, with the Spitfires outlasting the Wolves to capture the Junior Junior Championship. The Senior Consolation Championns were the Kings, while the Knights picked up the trophy for the Jr. Consolation. Unfortunately, the Jr. League ws not wel balances, but with teams 1 & 2 playing playing off for the championship and then 3 & 4 playing of! for the consolation, the final meetings of these clubs proved exciting with close scores. The Wolves defeated the Knights 10-0, Spitfires downed the Generals 13 to 1. The Consolation final saw the Knight beat the General 7-6 and the Spitfiries eliminated eliminated the Wolves 5-2. The Senior league was a completely different story, with only 6 points separating separating all four teams in the final final league standings. The Flames who finished the schedule in first place, defeated the Penguins in the championship game while the fourth place Kings, who were forced out of the cham- game by the pionship Flames i flames in the dying minutes, minutes, won the consolation trophy by defeating the Whalers.
