On Saturday evening our community had a couple of entertainment options at least, and many of our citizens citizens indulged in either one or both. It was the occasion of the Victoria Country Pork Producers annual blow-out at the Ops Arena. This included included the serving of BBQ ribs, pork steaks and sausage sausage to somewhere we roughly estimated at between between 800-900 hungry patrons patrons with the usual accessories, accessories, plus watermelon for dessert. We personally found the meal cooked almost almost to perfection and the event extremely well organized. organized. Much of the credit must go to Chairman of the Victoria Producers Denn Yekveld and his score of willing volunteers who provided provided the man and woman power to carry .the event off successfully. Between the dinner and dance a presentation was made to Ted and Judy Jensen Jensen of Sunderland area. Ted has recently retired after serving eight years on the Provincial Board. Judy was presented with a dozen red roses for her supporting role and Ted with an ornate desk pen set. Ted, in his usual capable capable style, expressed their appreciation of their gifts. Later, Warren Sutcliffe and his band provided excellent excellent music for the dance that followed. For the first half hour or so the dancers slipped and slithered around the floor due to an overen- thusiastic application of wax which eventually wore off. Two large floor fans helped to alleviate the heat and humidity humidity caused by all those bodies in an enclosed area. All in all it was a pretty good show and well worth the price of admission. On the same evening, Pat and Sterling McGill were hosted on the occasion of their 25th Wedding Anniversary. Anniversary. The Manvers Arena auditorium was filled almost to capacity with well wishers wishers present to honour the happy couple. Pat and Sterling were the recipients of a number of lovely gifts including a couple offine paintings. Sorry we can't provide all the details of the evening's festivities as we were late in arriving but presume a more complete report will be provided provided from other sources. Nancy and Dale Stinson hosted a birthday party for their daughter Lacey on her second Birthday. Among those present were Grandpa Floyd, Bob, Pam and Crystal Carmichael, Bob, Mary Morelia Morelia and girls, Corrie and Harvey Malcolm plus a few other drop ins. Pretty"good show.
