HOCKEY REGISTRATION IN ORONO -- The Orono Minor Hockey Association will be holding its registration registration at the Orono Arena on Monday, August 28th, between between the hours of seven p.m. and nine p.m. The registrations registrations are for players in the tyke, novice, atom, peewee, bantam, midget and juvenile divisions. There is a late registration charge and failure to register may forfeit a player's chances to play in Orono this season. COORS TOURNAMENT --The Ajax Men's Slo-pitch Association Association is offering over $5,000 in prize money during its annual fall tournament. Pontypool Pacers Run Away With Top Prise in Junior C Tournament The Pontypool Pacers, sponsored by the Ontario Harness Horsemen's Association trotted over the James Publishing Rally Dogs on Sunday afternoon to win the "A" Division of the Jr. "C" Lobb Ball Tournament. Orono Publisher Sees Car Place Third at Mosport Orono resident Lynn Helpard, publisher of World of Wheels magazine, saw his company-backed team capture third in class in the Escort 24-hour endurance race as part of the Rothmans 24-hour weekend held Aug. 12-13 at Mosport. Running smoothly and cleanly for the entire race, the World of Wheels "Eagle Talon" joined a three car sweep in the A Class, joining the Archer Brothers' #31 and #32 Eagle Talons on the victory podium. The World of Wheels #51 car, driven by the magazine's editorial staff and supported supported by a pit crew made up of volunteers from Chrysler Canada's Windsor headquarters, headquarters, capped off a successful weekend which saw them qualify 11th; overall, and second in class. \ Helpard was justifiably pleased with the finish of the #51 car, adding that: "Had we not run into problems with our refueler unit, we might well have jumped into second place in class." Port, Hope Duo Captures Les Langs Tournament Les Langs was on hand last Wednesday, August 16, to present his trophy to the winner of the doùbles tournament held at the Bowmanville Lawn Bowling Club. The winning twosome consisted of Phil Goddard (skip) and Martin Haalstra, both of Port Hope. At 13 years of age, Martin also happened to be the youngest lawn bowler on the greens.
