/ * i Runner Raises Funds for Worthy Causes Gaétan Bellerose is on the last leg of his 600 mile run around Lake Ontario. The run is sponsored by the Canadian Foundation for World Development and various Lions Clubs around the Great Lakes. Geatan is a member of the Toronto-Bathurst Lions Club' and he began his most recent run from Toronto on September September 17. This plucky runner began an around-the- world run two and one-half years ago when he ran across four countries in Africa. Since then, he has completed a Caribbean Run and the Lake Ontario Run. Gaétan runs to bring attention to the pollution and other damage we are inflicting on our planet. Vincent Massey School News Miss Cole's class is very busy writing stories. They are only in grade one but they are doing very well. On October 5 they ate the turkey soup that they had made themselved. Miss Cole cooked the turkey but then the class picked off the meat, helped make the stock, cut up the vegetables and of course they all got to enjoy the finished product, by Tammy Bunce. On Wednesday, October 4, Mrs. Gahagan's class went to the Wilmot Creek Outdoor Centre. When they arrived, they were instructed instructed in safety at the centre and shown the games and activities in the cabin that is located at the site. The class was separated into two groups for a hike. One group saw a garter snake and a turkey vulture. They went on a blind nature walk in which they had to follow a rope through the woods with their eyes closed. The camouflage camouflage game was another favourite activity. After lunch they played Blob tag. Amoeba tag and the food chain game. Before the class left at 3:00 p.m. they went through the maze, by Gregg Ogilvie. Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Caverly, she was married 52 years ago to Allan Thompson, residing residing in the Oshawa area and wintering at Daytona Beach.
