Therefore, the Durham Region and area municipalities have developed an alternative plan to dispose of the leaves in a composting site. Leaves must be placed in normal household garbage bags and tied with special tags. The tags will be distributed to all households in the Town of Newcastle the week of October 23, 1989. Leaves will be picked up in separate trucks dispatched to collect leaves only. THE LEAF BAGS MUST BE IDENTIFIED WITH THE TAGS PROVIDED and they must also be placed at the curb away from your regular garbage. The leaves will be taken to a composting site in the Durham Region, rather than a landfill site. Special leaf collection days have been designated by each area municipality. When a news item like this is read in the local paper, a Question comes to mind by those who are not TOPS members. What is a TOPS, and a KOPS? The answer answer is, TOPS stands for, Take Off Pounds Sensibly, and when that has been achieved a TOPS member becomes a KOPS, Keep Off Pounds Sensibly. The answer answer says it all! There are several TOPS Clubs in the area, and they are open to new members, unless there is a waiting list due to club size. There are many special gatherings for TOPS members members to attend. On November November 5th, 1989, there will be an Area Rally Day for TOPS at Bowmanville High School. Next spring, Provincial Provincial Recognition Days will be in Kingston, Ontario, and 1990 International Recognition Recognition Days will be held in Charleston, South Carolina, U.S.A., on July 12,13 and 14th. There are various TOPS retreats held throughout throughout the year, one being in Paris, Ontario, April 29tn to May 4th, 1990. Because TOPS is international,some retreats are held as far away ns Wainlun, Hawaii, and Shnwinignn Lake, British British Columbia. TOPS creates an inspirational, inspirational, and supportive atmosphere atmosphere for its members. There you learn about good eating habits, sensible foods that hegin a sensible diet. You learn to control your weight, and not let it control you. New friends are made, friends that are there for one common purpose: Good Health!
