« » ( i i 18 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, November 8,1989 Enniskillen Squad Wins Soccer Tournament ; The Courtice Area Schools Group held their annual soccer tournament at M. J. Hobbs Senior Public School in Hampton on October 26 and 27. The Enniskillen boys elementary soccer team were the winners of the tournament, beating out Courtice North. Barb Pammett is presenting the trophy to the winning team's coach, Ken Young, and captains Tony Wilson (holding trophy) and Sean Liptay. Grist Mill Boys in Semis The Newcastle Grist Mill PeeWees travelled to Man- vers on Wed., Oct. 25th, and produced a very lackluster performance in losing 10-1. Adam Connaghan scored the only goal for Grist Mill after Jeff Darrach won the face-off to get the puck back to Adam. On Wed., Nov. 1st, the Grist Mill PeeWees played their first home game of the season and produced a much better effort in beating Lindsay Lindsay 8-5. ' Jeff Darrach led the scoring scoring parade with four goals, followed by Jeff Pearce with two, Frank Vanoverloop and Tyler Sokoljuk one each. They began began the United Counties Hockey League Season in Baltimore with a 9-0 win. With only three second year players, Newcastle were not sure how they would fare. They needn t have worried though with veteran Chris Davis notching notching 2 goals. Nicolas Stacey and Michael Patrick carried over their scoring exploits from last year as they scored 4 and 3 goals respectively. Baltimore had just finished finished killing off a penalty when Jerry Guthrie ran a pass up to Chris Davis who went in alone, giving Newcastle Newcastle a 1-0 lead. Three minutes minutes into the 2nd period Nicolas Nicolas Stacey took a pass from Craig Harness and broke in off the wing, putting putting a wrist shot in the top corner. Stacey then made it 3-0 at the 8:27 mark with assists to Kevin Kennedy and Chris MacLean.
