This year's president, Helen Bryden, Bryden, has provided outstanding outstanding and nurturing leadership leadership in all areas and deserves to be highly commended. commended. There is another name but I'll just let it go as is. They came out with costs to change? None of them have the slightest idea of the cost, not even vaguely. This is something that would have to be taken up at Queen's Park. I very quietly did some research and yes, it would cost some money, but mainly mainly in paper work. The idea was to pass the buck back to the source it came from. The Ê roblem started with Mr. lavis and the current people people did not have time to make a proper decision. They just got the message we would be getting Regional Regional Gov't and there was no time for referendum, just give us a name. Well, they got the name and it was just very unfortunate, better they had picked something quite different. I wonder, like Councillor Hooper, who got the prize. In tne past in talking with a lady in town, a good Tory (I know quite a few good ones), at any rate she went after our present member, member, good old Sam, to see what he could do about the thing. She said and I quote; ( Do you know what he said to me. That was a bit of a problem for the party but I do not wish to stir that up again). I just laughed and said Sam is smarter than I though he was. I shall send another letter to Mr. Peterson Peterson and Mr. Sweeney to thank them for being so polite polite to answer my letter and I'll ask them if there is any chance of sinking Regional Gov't. It should save the taxpayers taxpayers a lot of money. Just think about it, readers. To many many people who have phoned me to keep trying, some I did not even know, all I can say is I tried. To the people of lovely little Newcastle, I am not against you, my father was born in Newcastle in 1869. He worked in Newcastle post office from 1883 to 1886, he then came to Bowmanville Bowmanville and worked in Bowmanville until 1950 when he retired at the age of 80. His birth certificate was burned in a church fire and the gov't would not give him the old age pension until Editor Editor John James went down and assured the gov't they'd better give it to him since he had worked for them 66 years and was fully of age.
