Ho, Ho, Ho, Santa Arrives Early at Rotary Christmas Party Santa visited the Bowmanville Rotary Club's annual annual Christmas party on Thursday, December 7. There were plenty of gifts for all and Santa once again proved that he is magic when he presented budding artist Kevin Sharkey, the 1989Timmy, with an artist's artist's kit. Lana Gillespie, the 1990 Tammy, received a doll. The Rotary Club has made this an annual tradition tradition for over 37 years, since the inception of Christ mas seals. Some 200 guests enjoyed the fine meal and festivities, and over' 100 gifts were given to visiting children, 35 of whom were Rotary kids. Above Lana and her mom, Sylvia, and Kevin enjoy a visit with Santa at the gala evening held at the Bowmanville Lions Centre. Lions and Lioness Club members catered catered to the event. The boys took action in the first period when Gary Adams Adams pounded the puck into the net. About 1 minute later later Gary fired another from the blueline, this time his goal was assisted by Ryan Robinson. Then they shuffled shuffled around and Ryan scored assisted by Gary, Leamington Leamington had an unfounded desire to score. Their work started to pay off as Leamington scored a goal to end the first period Bowmanville 3 Leamington Leamington 1. - The Toros slowed down and Leamington dominated the rest of the game. They came out ahead, the final score being 4-3. This loss dropped the team 1 notch but they managed managed to hang in. They were scheduled to play Alliston which they had previously beaten 3-0. Alliston scored half way through the 1st period period but Dave Watt and Allan Allan McCullough and Ryan Robinson broke the silence with a clean cut goal. Doug Parkin flipped a nice one in with the help of Jason Jack- man and Rod Harness. 1 With only 7 ; seconds left in the game forward, Jeff Murphy scored assisted by Dave Watt. The boys anxiously anxiously awaited the news of who their next opponents were to be. Fifteen boys entered entered the arena, each pausing pausing at the tournament schedule, some smirked some started, some frowned but others just laughed. Leamington filled the slot. This game opened fast and Jason Jackman shot one in off of Rob Harness's perfect perfect pass. Leamington put one away on us but Jason Jackman then helped Gary Adams who shot it from the blueline and hit the net dead on. The second period was tough and Gary Adams picked up the only goal during during those 10 minutes of play. With 5 seconds seconds left in the game the puck came to Rob Harness who made a cool pass to Ryan Robinson ana Doug "Ed" Parkin added another to make the final score 5-2. The Toros gave it their best shot but it wasn't their daw they couldn't buy a goal. The victory went to Woolwich 5-0. An extended Thank-you should go to Saltfleet for their hospitality and for hosting an excellent tournament. tournament. Late Goal Knots Tie For Lange's Photography On Saturday, December 9th, Lange Photo tangled with Checker's Variety in B.R.H.L. league play but it took a late goal in the last minute to salvage a 2-2 tie. Harmony Outhustles Lange Photo Tuesday, December 5 saw Lange Photo Peewees journey journey to the unfriendly confines confines of the Donevan Complex Complex and absorb a frustrating 6-4 loss to Harmon Harmon Church. Jeff Hughes drew first blood in the game on a nice individual effort when he skated the length of the ice to score on a feed from Mike D. The score at the 8:30 mark of the first proved to be the only one of the entire period as we closed it out up 1-0. Starting off the second, things were looking up when we drew Harmon Church into a penalty at the 14:14 mark of the second but things backfired when Harmon Harmon punched two quick goals across in less than a minute to assume a lead which they never relinquished. relinquished. Then they struck for twomore in the waning minutes to take a 4-1 lead into the third. With the big MO (momentum) (momentum) on their side they quickly struck for two more to start the third to take a seemingly insurmountable 6-1 lead, heading into the home stretch. But at this point, Lange's dug 'down to close the gap, starting at the 9:49 mark when Jeff Hughes went upstairs on the net- minder from Mike D. Three minutes later on a steal by one of our guys who found Jeff Hughes in front and tucked it in to give us some hope. This occurred at the 6:47 mark. Then with time winding down, 4:44 to be precise, Jeff pushed another across from a wild scramble in front, but alas this was "all she wrote" for the outcome outcome of this match. Although the score might not indicate it, Clayton Ren- dell played his usual strong game and was there when he had to be. Still we need to tighten up in front and give him all our support and turn things around starting this Saturday.
