They defeated West Rouge, last years Juvenile 'B' champions, 4-1, with Don McMurter scoring twice, and Steve Burns and "Bucky" Hughes added singles. FLASHBACK-10 YEARS AGO -- On Sunday night, prior to the game in Memorial Arena, Bowmanville, Bowmanville, Andy McLauchlan presented the local Junior 'C' hockey club with a banner marking the Ontario Championship they won last year. It was received by Club President Joan Simpson. TORO CHRISTMAS DANCE -- A Christmas Dance will be held for parents who have kids playing in the Toro organization on Thursday, December 28. After defeating London, Pelham and Thorold on Friday Friday and Saturday, the Dennis Dennis Pizza Novices advanced to the finals to meet Fort Erie, on Sunday. Emotions were high as the Pizza boys exploded to take a 5-0 lead in the first period. Mike McCrory led the way with 2 goals, assists going to Chris McKenzie, Mike Maynard, Erik Griffin and Andrew Wraith. Colin MacDonald and Chris Pot each netted goals unassisted. unassisted. Their first away game of the month was a loss in Lakefield, however however they have had better luck lately. One of their home games was in the Ea- f les' Nest on-the-hill last 'uesday where they edged the Little Britain Merchants 4-2. The local boys out-shot their visitors from the north 67-25, but could only get four by a red hot Rob Harris in the Merchants' net. Glyn Campbell put the Goodyear boys on the board at 6:53 of the first on passes from Shmyr and Dennis. At the 10:58 mark, Nick Dennis converted a power play opportunity opportunity from Shmyr and Campbell. J.J. Worden took over the goaltending chore and came up with a shut-out. Skylight played an excellent excellent defensive game and kept the puck in A&R's end for long stretches of time, resulting resulting in numerous scoring opportunities. Tyler Cook, the goaltender for A&R kept game by Skylight his team in the stopping many shots. The first game of the tournament was against a team from Pickering. The Flying Dutchman were easy winners by a 6 to 1 score. McCarthy added singles for the Dutchman. Tina Millson faced 24 shots in the Bowmanville net, only allowing 5 to evade her. The net-minder for Keene was only challenged 9 times and was beaten twice by Bun King markspersons. So all in . all a 5-2 defeat at the hands of the best team didn't seem too degrading. The Bun King group were trailing 4-0 when Laura Abrams Abrams made a fine unassisted effort at 6:59 of the 3rd to break the goose egg on the scoreboard. Tuesday, November 21st, Bowmanville 4 Keene 2- 0 On Tuesday, November 21st the Bun King Intermediates Intermediates travelled to Keene to face "the best" tonm again • But • Aha! Way to go iso! Way to go Team! Wednesday, November 29th Baltimore 0 Bowmanville 1 Tho Bun King Toros hosted hosted a struggling crow from Baltimore, who have been having trouble icing a team. No problem - We thought! Guess again! We scud as the game progressed. This gutsy gutsy bunch from Baltimore gave the Bun King girls fits as they always just managed managed to break up the play. Tina Pilling was a tnorn in our sides as she performed performed admirably between the Baltimore pipes. She turned away 22 of the 23 shots peppered at her, and really had no chance on the 23rd shot. With only 3:46 remaining in the 3rd, Joanna Hall sent Denise Bugden into the clear, and as Denise skated toward the net she picked her spot, unfortunately, as luck would have it. The goalie goalie was beaten but she hit the post. Joanna followed in on the empty net. A squeaker squeaker girls - but well done. Tina - shut-out no. 3! The team again started off strong with a two goal lead on goals by Ryan Dunnigan and Niki Defreitas with an assist from Brent Stockman. Woodville managed to come within a goal until,, Ryan Dunnigan put the game away with a pass from Niki Defreitas. The next game was against a team from Whitby and the Dutchman team came up with their best hockey of the weekend to record a 6 to 3 victory. Brent Stockman opened the scoring scoring for the Dutchman with a goal on a breakaway. Jason Maclean added another in the second period with Brent Stockman getting the assist. Whitby replied with the next goal malting the score 2 to 1. Brent Stockman increased the Dutchman lead to 2 once again, with assists provided by Stephen Tabb and Niki Defreitas then combined to put the team ahead by three goals. Whitby fought back however and managed to reduce the lead to only 1 goal late in the third period. Niki Defreitas Defreitas then put the game away for the Dutchman with two goals in the last five minutes minutes of the game. Assisting on the goals were Mike Leipsig, Leipsig, Chris Baumhauer, and Chris Paauette. The newly formed defense pairs of Ryan Dunnigan and Trevor Baker, and Chris Paquette and Jason Maclean were very effective while Aaron Pudlis played well in his new forward position. The championship game was a match up between the Flying Dutchman team and the Bruins which arc a major major atom team from the Oshawa Little NHL league. The older Oshawa team proved to be too strong for the Bowmanville team and tho boys came away on the short end of a 5 to 2 score. Mark McCarthy scored for tho Dutchman late in the game with Mike Leipsig providing providing tho assist.
