Report from The Pines All of the bustle of report cards and interviews is over once again for another term. The staff enjoyed meeting so many parents to set goals for the rest of the year, and many students are gearing up to improve their results in the second term. A highlight of the past week was a double gold victory victory in volleyball. Both the boys and girls school teams came first in the Newcastle Athletic Association annual league. All coaches and players, whose names are printed in an earlier column, are congratulated on their success. Another recent success has been the United Way campaign. Students ana staff exceeded last year's contribution. Next week some activities will be sponsored sponsored by several classes, with proceeds going to the Salvation Army for Christmas Christmas goodwill. For the first time, The Pines Guidance Department is running a job shadowing program in which students in grade 7 or 8 can arrange to visit a job site for a day of experience in a chosen field. This program is run by our capable peer counsellors from Clarke High School, Dan and Jenny. We hope that many Pines students will take part. By the time this column is run, our grade 7 volleyball teams will have played their tournament in Bowmanville. Next week we'll bring you those results. On Monday, December 11, all of the schools in the Northumberland and Newcastle Newcastle Board of Education flew their flags at half-mast in remembrance of the students students killed in Montreal, and at The Pines, wo remembered remembered those young women in our regular morning morning silence. On a much more pleasant note, we arc pleased to announce announce that Mr. and Mrs. Brasch are the proud parents parents of a healthy new daughter, daughter, Catherine.
