Worden Elementary School, in Courtice entertained last week at the school's Christmas Concert. The choir was under the direction of Mrs. Vondracek. These students of S.T. Worden Public School are The theme of the concert was: "The Space Family acting out a scene from a soup kitchen in the 1930's.P Came A-'Travelling". A Very Close Call for Santa Claus David hated Christmas. He hated the cheery days where everyone was happy. He had even slammed the door on the Christmas carolers. carolers. David decided to stay up and make sure Santa Santa gave him a lot of presents ana toys. David fell asleep waiting for Santa to come. After a while when ring, ring, ring and a loud thud awoke him. David jumped up with a startle. "It must be Santa Claus!" he said to himself. He ran upstairs to the attic and looked out the attic window. Sure enough it was Santa. Then a light' bulb clicked inside his head. David ran back downstairs and phoned the police. When someone answered the phone after two rings David said "Hello, there's a man on the roof who claims to be Santa Claus, trying to get down our chimney." "Well, o.k. We'll send someone down tight away," said the lady on the other end of the phone. "Thanks and goodnight." The phone went dead. David put the receiver receiver down. ^1" When, the policé finally arrivéd they took Jolly Old St. Nick, who looked pretty disappointed and sad to jail. As the siren faded, David- decided to get dressed and! take St. Nick's sleigh for a! ride. He climbed the T.V. an-- tena and hopped in Santa's! sleigh. Meanhile it was almost dawn at the home of Santa. Mrs. Claus and Willy Claus, her son, were worried to death and wondering were Santa had gotten to. Willy was looking through his telescope telescope then yelled to mama Claus, T see the sleigh, I see it." But when the sleigh pulled up all that was in there was a little boy who Santa had told Mrs. Claus all about. "Willy, Come at once" shouted Mrs. Claus. "Yes mom, what would you like?" Willy replied. "Help me move David Shear to the farmhouse to lay him on the hay to sleep. The two of them picked him up and layed him down but accidently awoke him. Mrs. Claus left the room, Willy still remained. ' "Where's Santa?" he yelled at David. "He's in jail" replied David David to Willy. Willy picked up David and threw him down to Earth. Willy ran to the sleigh and delivered all the toys. When he arrived at home he was very sleepy. He told Mrs. Claus where Santa was. Mrs. Claus left on her journey to bail out Santa. When they finally got home they fell asleep for tomorrow tomorrow they had to start to make toys for next year. David learned that he was wrong and he never did it again.
