P ort Perry Mo jacks Dump Bowmanville Eagles 6-3 by Scott Brunt. On December 26 and 27 the McRobbie Photo PeeWee House League Team travelled travelled to Trenton for its annual annual Silver Puck Tournament and skated away with the 'B' championship, A team that normally consists of 13 skaters and a goalie had a depleted line-up of 7 skaters and a goalie to play in the tournament. The boys knew their work was cut out for them. Positional play and lots of hustle was . the key to victory. Head coach Jack Boulianne and assistants Scott Brunt and Gary Taylor knew this and they too had their work cut out for them. In the first game the McRobbie boys faced a wide awake Trenton I.OiO.F. and unfortunately the McRobbie crew weren't as wide awake. The boys weren't even in this one as they were soundly soundly defeated 9-2. The goals were both scored by Mike Talotti with assists going to Shaun Whalen, Tyler Boulianne Boulianne and 2 assists to Craig Taylor. In the second game the boys faced a Kingston Legion Legion team. It was obvious that the game earlier in the day was forgotten and shaken shaken off as the boys rebounded with a trouncing of their own. They humiliated the Kingston team 10-4. This f ame was the game for Mike alotti to show his stuff for he scored 8 goals and assisted assisted on another. But Mike did not do it all by himself. The digging and hustle of the rest of his 1 teammates contributed greatly to Mike's scoring spree. The solid goal tending of Ryan Polley was also a key part in MacDon- Mike's goals, with additional assists going to Tyler Boulianne, Boulianne, Craig . Taylor and Shaun Whalen. But Shaun Whalen and Craig Tavlor proved that assists just weren't weren't enough for them. They pounded home goals of their own. Shaun Whalen and Mike Talotti assisted on Craig's goal and Shaun's was unassisted as he scored on a break-away that began in his own zone. This ended the first day of the tournament on a hign note for the boys and hopes of the same success on the following day. The second day the third game of the tournament saw the McRobbie squad ready to play a chippy team from Ibome. But despite the the victoiy. Garret aid assisted on four of Col dirty stickwork of this hotheaded hotheaded club the solid defence defence of O.wen Taylor, Niall O'Donnell and Tyler Boulianne, Boulianne, the hard-working forward forward line of Mike Talotti, Garret MacDonald, Craig Taylor, Shaun Whalen ana David Boudreau and the awesome goaltending of Ryan Polley showed that cooler heads prevail as a 3-1 win was inevitable. Mike Talotti found the marker first on an unassisted unassisted effort early in the opening opening period. Shaun Whalen was the second person to chalk up a goal in this contest contest but Shaun did it with the help of Mike Talotti. This goal came 23 seconds after the first one. It was 3 minutes later when Col- borne popped their goal but this ended the scoring until midway through the third when Talotti did it again. Mike scored this goal after taking a stick across the neck which put him to the ice for a minute or two. By scoring this goal, Mike proved that the stick can be used for more rewarding things than bruising the op~- posing team. This victory meant that they would play in the ,'B' championship -, set to take place 1 hour from the end of the previous game. The fourth and final chance came for the McRobbie McRobbie clan to prove themselves as a well-positioned and hard-hustling team. They did just that as they came out as victors. The system of rewarding points decided that this is the position in which they would play and Kingston Legion provided the opposition. This time Kingston Legion was ready for them but I'm afraid there's no team that could have been ready for the McRobbie squad this day. The boys deserved to win this game and they did so by a score of 3-1. Garret MacDonald started started the scoring by putting the puck past the netminder from Kingston. Garret was right in position which made it easy for David Boudreau to feed him a good pass. Mike Talotti also assisted on the goal. But after that Mike decided it was his turn as be banged home a pass from Craig Taylor to put McRob- bies ahead 2-0. At this point the boys would settle for nothing less than a clear cut win. Trie only scoring in the second period was by Kingston Kingston which left the score at 2-1 at the end of the second. The third period saw only one goal as well. Mike Talotti Talotti put in another to put the score to 3-1 which was the way the game ended. The McRobbie Doys won the 'B' championship. Another thing that is strengthening other teams is the fact that they are picking up players from various various sources. Port Perry has added big Dave Burnett, who is almost immovable in front of the net, Rob Metcalf, a steady defenceman, and Danny Maw. This increases their depth. The Goodyear boys did not have one of their best games last Saturday when the Mojacks came to town and left with a 6-3 victory. Kelly Armstrong played one of his best games of the year, handling the puck well, doing a steady job on the ice and staying out of the penalty box.
