In fact there is one house that escaped the lot levies, building permits, building inspectors and all of the other other bureaucratic entanglements entanglements that are the way of life for so many builders today. today. This unique home is in fact the one that is under construction in the dining room of Lioness Lorraine Lover on Mill St. North. A very special home for a very special fund raising project. In the fall of 1989 Lion ess Lorraine Lover suggested suggested to the Newcastle Village Lioness club that raffiing off a doll house might be Em excellent excellent means of raising funds for the Club's community community efforts. Everyone agreed and Lorraine set off to get the project under way. She hasn't stopped since. The doll house, which comes in a kit form, has consumed consumed much of Lorraine's free time and that of other Lioness members as well. While the house is in Pre- . cut Pieces it requires extensive extensive planning and fitting to ensure the quality is maintained. maintained. "It has been a challenging and interesting project" said Mrs. Lover during a recent interview. "However, there have been times when I was totally frustrated" she said. ExplEtining, she said "while it is a quality kit things don't always go as planned. I found that the house has a certain order that needs to be followed to make sure the pieces fit properly. It took a couple of time consuming corrections to make me aware of this." The doll house is built to a scale of one inch equals one foot. It has hundreds of wooden pieces that have been carefully fitted and glued together. When the house is finished it will be furnished as well. Mrs. Lover Lover estimates that more than 300 hours have been spent in the construction of the house so far. "It will take 200 more hours to finish the building and get the interior furnished and finished" she added. The roof of the house has been shingled as well. Mrs. Lover explained that each of the 2,100 shingles OSHAWA - Provincial Transportation Minister Bill Wrye has written to Durham Region with the information information that Oshawa will be getting the GO train extension extension into the city in two stages.
