He was in his 50th year, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Abernethy Sr., born and raised in Bowmanville where he attended Bowmanville Bowmanville Public, and High Schools. He worked for a local local farmer and later was employed employed as a painter and decorator decorator for J. Rae Abernethy for 25 years. Still later, he moved to Trenton where he married Hazel Farrell in 1981. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church Bowmanville, later Salvation Salvation Army.Trenton. His hobbies hobbies included gardening. Surviving are his wife Hazel, son David, brothers and. sisters (Grace) Mrs. John Steele, Bill, (Loma) Mrs. John Spiteri, (Marva), Mrs. Adolfo Carcone, Cecil and wife Chris. Predeceased by mother and father, brother brother Fred and sister (Marion) Mrs. NazzLanno. Will also be missed by nieces and nephews. Funeral service held at Rushnell Funeral Home, Trenton on Saturday, January January 20th, 1990, followed by cremation. Captain Gerald Cory officiated. Martin Connors As the result of a tragic car accident, Martin Connors, Connors, aged 18, died suddenly in Newcastle, on Monday, February 5,1990. Born in Bowmanville and educated in Newcastle, he was the son of Mrs. Beverly Connors, and the late Len Jones. A former resident of British British Columbia, he had resided resided in this area for the past two years. He was a student at Clarke High School and was keenly interested in sports. He had been employed employed part time at the 401 Esso Station, Newtonville. Left to mourn his passing . are his mother, and a sister Tracy. , The Reverend Byron Yates officiated at the funeral funeral service held on Friday at the Morris Funeral Chapel, Bowmanville. The organist was Mrs. Helen McDonald. George William Perfect In his ,85th year, George William Perfect died suddenly suddenly in Oshawa on Thursday, Thursday, January 18,1990. Born and educated in Croydon, England, he was the son of Herbert and Lillian Lillian Perfect and was married married to Agatha West and to the late Annie Curtis. A resident of Faith Place, Oshawa, he had previously resided in Bowmanville, where he was employed by Goodyear Canada Ltd., retiring retiring 25 years ago. He was an honorary member of Branch 178, Royal Canadian Legion. Surviving are Bert, Bud, Mrs. P. Joyner (Helen), Mrs. S. Wood, (Jean), Mrs. D. McNaney (Ruth), and Mrs. A. Waller, (Debbie). A private funeral service was held with the padre of the Legion officiating. Many donations to the Canadian Cancer Society were received in his memory- memory- Cremation. Report from Orono Figure Skating Club by ÏArnne Lemieux The Orono Figure Skating Skating Club was well represented represented at the Eastern Pineridge Interclub Competition held last weekend in Port Perry. The club sent 15 skaters to the competition and had competitions in all categories categories from Beginner through to Intermediate Ladies. Medals were won by the following skaters: Cindy Ross, 1st in flight and 2nd in final at the Beginner level, Haiti Colville 1st in flight and 3rd in final at the Beginner Beginner level, Mary Murphy 1st in flight at the Preliminary Preliminary level, Melissa Colville 2nd in flight mid 3rd in final at the Juvenile level, Melissa Melissa Allin 3rd in flight at the Juvenile level. Tanya Clemens placed 1st overall in the Intermediate Intermediate Ladies category and will therefore go on to compote at E.O.S.l.C. on March 3rd and 4th at Orono.
