She opened the meeting with a reading - "After the Winter God sends the Spring." Secretary's report was- read and approved. Line Mollen - our new treasurer was present and gave her report and stated she had changed our account account from the Royal Bank. Oral thanks were given from Cora Degeer and Mrs. Thompson's daughter Audrey Audrey for the Sr. Citizen Bouquets Bouquets received. A Thank you card was read from John and Betty Roth. Roll Call was answered by "What you like most lu out Spring." We decided to quilt Wednesday afternoon and would appreciate any help our ladies can give. Gladys P mentioned if the quilt was finished by June 2nd perhaps we could show it and sell tickets at the Enfield Quilt Show. Barb W. reminded us of our catering at the Lions .pnl if we would like to take on a Bowling Banquet (small) in May at the Centre - We voted voted yes. Jan M. laid a map of the proposed Highway 407 on the floor so we could all see and spoke on the Solina meeting as she had understood understood it. Shirley had been one of the ladies ten years ago, who had been in the class of silk arrangements at the Centre by Gail Cameron but unlike the most of us, she continued to do flowers. She had several different sizes of hats, as well as wreaths, wicker baskets of flowers, a duck planter, a hurricane lamp that was very showy, a broom and her daughter's wedding bouquet, as well as those for the bridesmaids and some lovely corsages. Then she snowed us how she decorates a hat and it didn't take very long. As we all know Shirley, we asked questions and some even gave suggestions. Commissioner of Planning Local Resident Tired of Answering Tax Queries A Bowmanville resident is getting tired of playing taxman. For the past 10 years the resident (who doesn't want his name to be used) has been fielding calls for Revenue Revenue Canada's tax guide department department in Thunder Bay. It seems the resident's phone number in Bowman- ville is identical to a number in Thunder Bay. (Thunder Bay has the same 623 number number in exchange as Bowmanville.). Bowmanville.). In the 1989 Tax Guide, numbers are listed that residents residents of Ontario can call for information. . Under local calls in Thunder Thunder Bay, "623-2751" is listed listed for people to call requesting requesting tax forms. A separate number is listed for long distance distance calls. Therefore, the Bowmanville Bowmanville man can't understand why he keeps receiving these calls. From February to April, usually once a day, he takes a phone call from someone looking for Revenue Canada. He has talked to Bell Canada about his problem and they have offered to give him a new number but he has friends overseas who know his current number. He says he realizes that people can make mistakes but he is getting tired of the mistakes happening every day. He spoke with The Statesman to let people in this area know that if they . dial the number in Thunder Bay they won't be reaching an official with Revenue Canada, they'll be reaching him instead. • WINDOWS DOORS • SKYLIGHTS SOLARIUMS • SOFFIT • ADDITIONS HEAT MIRROR® Custom Installations 5 Points Mall j a ✓ Taunton Rd.
