Pow! Boom! Biff! Kabam! I was disappointed that wrestling promoter Vince McMahon didn't include the three best fighters to ever don spandex, in his mega card at the Skydome Sunday. Sunday. For once, the matches wouldn't have been theatrical theatrical or staged. My heroes fight for real. They're not phony. Every day, after school, my heroes went to battle. And so, I present for your consideration the ultimate wrestling card. I call it "Wrestlemania Nostalgia 1". Picture, if you can, the following sports spectacular: Since nostalgia is the name of this game, the encounter encounter begins with The Partridge Family singing the National Anthem, ana Commander Tom as the guest ring announcer. Introduced by Commander Commander Tom, Hulk Hogan enters the ring and sends the crowd into a frenzy by ripping ripping off his velcro t-shirt. (I always wondered how he did that so easily.) The crowd goes into a hush as the Hulksteris challenger challenger is introduced. It's a match that fans born in the 1960's have been anticipating anticipating for years. Entering the ring in red tights, blue leotards, and red boots, the youngest fans in attendance ask who this man is. "It's not a bird or a plane," we tell them. It's Superman! Every fan over the age of 20 goes into a hysterical frenzy as one of the greatest heroes of all time is challenging challenging for the world heavyweight heavyweight title. Unfortunately for the younger generation, they laugh at Superman's appearance. Today's cartoons really have polluted their poor little little minds. In record time, Superman pins the Ilulkster to claim the crown. The kids are stunned. I know, of course, that the Hulkster was no match for the man of steel. For not even the Hulkster Hulkster is faster than n speeding speeding bullet, more powerful than n locomotive, or able to leap tall buildings in a single single bound. Promotional pictures are taken by Statesman photographer, photographer, Jimmy Olsen, while Superman's manager, Lois Lane, gracefully strides about the ring. And what did Superman toll Commander Tom was the reason for his win? "Truth, justice, and the wrestling way." Stay with mo now, it's time for the main event. A tag team battle. Randy 'Macho Mnn' Savage Savage and his partner, the Ultimate Ultimate Warner, arc escorted to the ring by their manager, manager, Scary Sherry. As the lights dim, a guy in n police uniform named O'llnrn strides over to a rod phono located at ringside to place a call to the challengers. challengers. And following close behind behind is the greatest tag team in history. Their credentials are lengthy, defeating the likes of Mr. Freeze, King Tut, the Penguin, Riddler, and some Joker. It's the Dynamic Duo. Batman and Robin. go real fight," I tell the youngsters. youngsters. The match begins tamely, but Macho Man and the Warrior begin to take control control at the mid-way point. "Look at your heroes now," laugh the youngsters. I"m not worried, though. I know that the Dynamic Duo are always better in the second half of the show. "Holy fan support Batman," Batman," yells Robin. "We can't let our fans down!" Pow! Boom! Riff! Kabam! The DynamiLDuo are' on the verge of victory. But wait, Scaiy Sherry has climbed up on the ring apron and is swinging her purse in a violent rage. Don't worry though, I've got it covered. Appearing from nowhere is another caped crusader. The girl is masked, her identity identity a secret. As always, Batgirl can still kick. I often thought she could boot field goals for any NFL team when she was in her prime. With Scary Sherry out of the way, Batman and Robin pin their opponents for the victory. The youngsters are won over by my super heroes. Just as I was at their age. Yes sir, Vince McMahon, there are millions more to be made on this one.
