An abandoned house ana a machine that generates smoke were used for this demonstration. The Town of Newcastle now has 115 -part-time and 23 full-time firefighters based in five stations. Its equipment includes 16 vehicles, two of which are aerial ladder trucks. Fire Halls in Bowmanville and Courtice are now manned by fulltime fulltime crews from six a.m. to six p.m. seven days per ^ I v When there is a call involving a hazardous material spill, firefighters dressed in these haz-mat suits will walk up and identify the chemical, and then leave the area. They will return to a safe spot where they will be. sprayed and scrubbed for decontamination The suits will be put into a porto tank and left for the Ministry Ministry of Environment to study.
