i f ? ) Section Three The Canadian Statesman, Bowman ville, December 19,1990 13' Home for Christmas My heart goes home at Christmas just like it always will, To that little country village surrounded by rolling hills. Back to a dear old farmhouse that's not lonely anymore For there's sounds of giggles and whispers and secrets behind a closed door. Mom's in the pantiv rolling out dough; just smell that aroma of pies, Mingling with smells of freshly baked bread and snow tumbles down from the skies. Dad and the boys went to search out a tree, hitched the horses up to the sled; They brought back a beauty...it's perfectly shaped and it's thawing out in the shed. Then my thoughts fly on to'Christmas morn, in my memory we race down the stair, The tree is trimmed, with presents piled high and we make as much noise as we dare. There is candy and nuts on a saucer, with an orange and grapes placed with care; There's chocolates, too, that some tried to snitch!...But we always got our share! The big kids got skis, we younger got sleds and we got some socks, mitts and games Checkers, Monopoly and Tiddly Winks and Snakes and Ladders were some of the names. After breakfast was over and prayers had been said, we kids went outside to Play v We dug tunnels in drifts, swung from ropes in the barn with the kids from over { the way. !j My thoughts go next to our table, so loaded with wonderful fare |i And in my heart I say, 'Thanks Mom and Dad, for your sacrifice, worry and •! care!" Yes, my heart goes home at Christmas just as it always will To that plain, old country farmhouse and the memories that live there still! by Gladys M, Braun ea.cc onCaRCH A JVIay you and yours rekindle the spirit of Christmas past. Bowmanville Letters from St. Stephen's Elementary School WHAT I "WOULD LUCE TO GIVE FOR CHRISTMAS Christmas is a special time of year. It's a time for giving, not getting. It's a time for families to come together together in one. It's a time to care. It's a time to share and it's a time for unity. Christmas is for everyone, everyone, not just a group of people. people. Christmas is a special time for all. Some people think of what they will be getting. Others will be giving their all to try and make a great Christmas for others. Give your all to give a better Christmas so that others may have a little more. For those who don't have much, give them all your trust and say a little prayer for all, say a little something to cheer the others. Remember when you get all those presents from others, others, that some people don't have enough. Remember, give, not get for Christmas, for Christmas Christmas is a special time of year. Here's something you should remember: Give, not get and it's the spirit that counts! By Tia WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE FOR CHRISTMAS Maybe a truck, Maybe a train, Maybe even, an airplane. From this to that, from that to this. Everybody has, a Christmas wish. Some want a statue, some want a ball. Some don't even think, about it at all. It's not to get presents it's to give presents. If you ask and ask you'll never get anything. The most important thing is to give. To give, you can give a lot like toys for children children and jewellery or perfume perfume for parents. You should be happier giving than getting. Trucks, dolls, clothes - they're all good gifts as long as you give them. They could be for your parents, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles uncles and grand-parents. Also remember Jesus. That's the most important thing of all. Jesus was born on Christmas night and on Christmas we remember Him. . by Dominika.Kluska QUESTIONS! Christmas is a special occasion occasion right?. Some people celebrate Christmas as getting getting presents. Some people think that Christmas is a special day to spend with your friends, which is up to you. Now to choose who you would like to be with getting or giving person? If you like giving that's great because some people can't afford Christmas E resents for family and •iends but feel bad because they can't. Well, I think that just because they can't afford something that they shouldn't feel baa at all. Did you ever think about what Christmas was really all about? Christmas was the day that Jesus was born in Bethlehem. Now what do you think now, about what Christmas is all about? Now I'm thinking that I could give something to my mom, my dad, my nrother and my sister. The End by Andrea Adamson Grade 5 Fl St. Stephen's Elem. THE ANIMAL'S CHRISTMAS One night a dog named Sargent reminded the dogs that tomorrow night is Christmas and we have to get a Christmas tree. "Oh! ANIMAL CHRISTMAS One night, on Christmas Eve there was a gathering of animals. They talked about Christmas and what they wanted but none talked about what to give. The wise little puppy came to the gathering and said "I have come to tell you the real meaning of Christmas." It's giving not getting, it's loving not hating.
