OBITUARY Leslie J. A. Taylor Leslie James Anson Taylor Taylor entered into rest in Oshawa General Hospital on July 26th, 1990, in his 74th year. He was the second son of Beatrice and Newton Taylor, and farmed in Blackstock all his life. On June 2nd, 1945, he married Annie Ashton who mourns her loss, along with their three children, Alice and her husband John Kennedy, Kennedy, Lindsay; Fred and wife Cathie, Blackstock; June and husband, Donald Bickell, Barrie, 12 grandchildren, grandchildren, brothers Douglas of Norland and Stanley of Blackstock. The funeral service was held on Monday at the Morris Morris Funeral Chapel, Bowmanville. Bowmanville. The Reverend Dale Davis of Blackstock United Church gave a wonderful wonderful tribute to Leslie with kind words and prayer. Pallbearers were Murray Byers, Cecil Gibson, John Archer, Henry Wotten, Pat Porrill and Fred Griffin. During all of Leslie's farming years, he took great pride in his registered Tam- worth pigs and Shorthorn cattle. In 1966, he won the Tamworth Premier Breeder Exhibitor's award at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. In later years, he judged at numerous fairs, the Western Fair, London, Ontario. Toronto Exhibition, Roseneath, etc. Upon retirement, his Burners Burners were spent in nis large garden. In winter, he enjoyed enjoyed travelling by car to Florida for a month's holiday. holiday. The Centre, located in Oshawa, offers a wide range of rehabilitation services to over 750 blind and visually impaired clients throughout the region. These services include: Rehabilitation Teaching: (Instruction in braille, typing typing and leisure activities.) Social Services: Counselling Counselling and referral services for newly blinded and existing clients. Vision Rehabilitation Services: Services: Counselling and demonstration demonstration of the latest in low technology vision aids. These are only a few of the services and programs available through the Durham Durham Region Service Centre. Until now, all CNIB services services to persons living in Durham Region were provided provided through the Markham office. With more than 320 blind and visually impaired persons in Oshawa alone, as well as a growing client population population in Ajax, Pickering, Newcastle and other communities communities in the area, the need to establish a local service service centre has been obvious for some time. A delicious lunch with a Christmas flavour was partaken of and a time of sociability enjoyed, enjoyed, and the appreciation to those in charge, was voiced by Ef- fa Stainton. What a friendly time we had! Evening Unit Meets On Dec. 12, at the attractive home of Chris Davis, Hyde House, Scugog Point. A very good attendance on Christmas Sunday, Advent IV, with the Processional Processional Hymn "The First Noel" followed by Jennifer, Colleen and Marilyn Arbuckle lighting the Advent Advent Candles. The minister, Rev. Dale Davis used as his sermon theme, "When You Give The Very Best" - an interesting interesting message presented for the Advent Season re- Christmas shopping - four different types of people shopping for the perfect gift. The parts were capably portrayed portrayed by Joshua Malcolm, Ken Weir, Barb Weir and Katie Mairs. The Scripture reader was Arlene Davis with lessons from Luke and Matthew. The children's theme with a large number of youngsters gathering at the front of the church; the minister captured their interest with a fine Christmas story; a Legend; (a story from earlier times thought to be historical). The six voice ladies choir com-, posed of Shirley Jackson, Regenia Walker, Kay Notman, Kathy Tromans, Leslie MacKenzie & Janice MacKenzie sang three Christmas numbers beautifully "When a Child is Born" - "No Room Within" and "lastly unaccompanied" unaccompanied" "Still" with Carol Maris leading. Offering received by Ken Weir and Dwight Davis. A festive church with a beautiful Christmas tree and lovely lovely arrangement of Poinsettias graced the sanctuary. We attended the S.A. Cawker Public School Christmas Concert, on Wednesday, December 19th, and enjoyed it immensely. A large crowd, and all classes gave excellent presentations.
