In announcing this year's ■ Arrive Alive grants to 134 ; Ontario high schools, Attor- S ney General Howard Hampton Hampton said the awards will assist assist student groups in their efforts to reduce impaired ; driving in their schools and v communities. The grants program has i- continued to grow every ; year since its inception four years ago. This year there are 17 additional schools participating in the project. "I am most encouraged to see more and more students becoming involved with the issue," said Mr. Hampton. . "Through the efforts of student student and other community groups, we have been able to strengthen the fight against drinking and driving." Numerous special guest speakers ana cultural events are planned for the' week-long forum. The South African ambassador to Canada Canada and the head of the African African National congres Canada, Peter Mahli will be among t The South African consul in Toronto Johann Van Rooyen is scheduled to attend. And a return visitor to the school, Canada's 800 metre champion sprinter, Freddie Williams, will be among the special guest speakers. There will also be a special special evening presentation next Monday for members of the public on "African Instruments: Instruments: Bells, Drums and Shakers in Church." The students will get chance to view this during the morning or afternoon afternoon workshop sessions. The forum will feature workshops on art, spiritual power and medicine, farming farming techniques, musical instruments, instruments, the slave trade, the role of the Church, history, history, and a special simulation on experiencing prejudice. But that's not all. There are a few more treats for students, staff and teachers during the week. There will be a special showing of the movies: The Gods Must Be Crazy and Cry Freedom. A musical group called The Singe will perform.on Wednesday afternoon. A music and theatre troupe called Siyatha will wrap up the day's events on Thursday. Thursday. And on Friday, Usafiri Dance and Drum Ensemble will perform.
