Sorry to report that Hap and Josie Hamilton were in a car accident accident while holidaying in Florida. Josie has undergone surgery. We wish her as speedy a recovery as possible. The United Church Skating' Party held at Moore's pond on a beautiful Sunday afternoon was most successful. Many returned to the church afterward for hot chocolate and goodies. Many Junior Farmers from this area attended the annual Durham East Junior Farmer Banquet and dance on Saturday evening at Newcastle Hall. At the weekly Tuesday evening card party there were 12 tables with Charlie Campbell the winner with 85 points. Other winners were Ann Taylor, Muriel Butson, Earla Hill, Ken Flint, Kay Beggs and Edith Storrie. Draws were won by Charlie Campbell, Doreen Ferguson, Ken Flint, Maney, Mary Pools and Nerta Masters.. . Kidney Dance March 2nd The annual Kidney Foun- ition Dance, the Ransberry dation Dance, sponsored by ry family, will be held at the Ni family, wil ewcastle Village Village Community Hall on Saturday, March 2. Special entertainment will be provided during the hour. Due to the popularity of the dance, Mr. Ransberry encourages 'people to come; early. Meanwhile, Mr. Ransberry also reminds Durham residents residents that a five-bed kidney dialysis unit will open at Oshawa General Hospital soon. The unit opening means that kidney patients from Durham will no longer be required to take treatment treatment in Toronto. The Ransberry family, members of the Durham unit of the Kidney Foundation, Foundation, have hosted the dance for 11 consecutive years. Other fund raising events hosted by this family include bazaars and a quilt raffle. A few years ago, a family member authored a contest which raised about $50,000 for the Kidney Foundation. Ransberrys also take part in the annual peanut sale, sponsored by the Kidney Foundation. Mr. Ransberry says the family got involved in fund raising as a way to snow appreciation appreciation to the Kidney Foundation. He says research research funded by the Kidney Foundation of Canada enabled enabled doctors to save his son's life in 1969.
