The Bowmanville branch was begun eighty-one years ago, and is still going strong and expanding. On April 17, the men hosted a ladies' evening at Maple Grove United Church. Owen Stevens, Treasurer of the American Veterinary Medical Association Association and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Environmental Protection for the State of Maine was the entertaining guest speaker. Mr. Stevens obtained his veterinary degree from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph and, while in residence residence there, met and married married Margaret MacIntyre of Dundalk, Ont; He practiced in Berwick, Mass, for 33 years before retiring. Mr. Wesley Down, of the Membership Committee, introduced introduced Mr. Stevens, who then entertained us with what he referred to as "A bit of Maine humour" which kept the audience laughing for the duration of his talk. Mr. Elmer Banting thanked him, on behalf of the club and the guests, for driving 600 miles to make the evening memorable with his 1 hours lively anecdotes. Musical entertainment was provided by Glen Cain on the violin who played a medley of Scottish ballads intermixed with classical pieces. Mel Roche and Susan Cascagnetti sang several love songs from hit plays, accompanied accompanied by Cory Kuipers on the piano. Their songs were dedicated to the ladies in attendance. They are working on a unit newspaper newspaper ana are hoping to have it ready for the banquet on the 21st of May. On the weekend, 12 of the 1st Enniskillen Brownies Brownies went to Camp Samac. The weather was a little wet but they still had a good time. They saw some aeer, and went through all the mud and puddles at Camp Samac. Their theme for the camp was Circus, they had a Circus play and party and they all dressed up for the Circus plays.
