» 1 Tree Planting Initiative by Rotary Club The spirits were warm, but the weather was cold and wet as Dr. Joe Pinto Chairman of the Bowmanville Rotary Club Environment Committee, helped Rotar- lan Garnet Rickard; Abe Hofstede, District Commissioner for the West Durham Scouts; Edith Beavis, Vice-President of the Hampton Scouting Association and Sea Scouts Robert Jones and Wade Harris, to raise a plaque in honor of the Rotary's tree-planting initiative. The Rotary Club of Bowmanville will sponsor tree plantings plantings around the municipality this spring in conjunction with their "Save Planet Earth Program." Mark Goff, Tim Dair, and Robert Jones, of the First Hampton Sea Scouts, along with Rotarian Chuck Cattran, were just a few of the many intrepid souls who braved cold, rainy weather on Saturday, April 20, to plant 9,000 trees in the Stephen's Stephen's Gulch Conservation Area near Orono. This is the first of three such plantings plantings which will take place this spring under the sponsorship of the Bowmanville Rotary Club.
