I must say, it has been a lovely lovely day. I haven't done a bit of work all day. I sit, writing this column, very relaxed. For on this glorious day, set aside for the largest association, association, known as Mother's Day. To celebrate, my family took me to the circus at the Bowman ville Recreation Complex. There were clowns, bears and elephants to name just a few. The performers performers were excellent. It was a treat for all ages. Hampton Jr. Public School had a successful Education Education Week. The school held an Open House on May 8th at 7 p.m. Many students took part in making it a memorable night. In my recollection of the Spring Splash dance, I forgot forgot to extend a thank you to Pingles for their donation of potted flowers as well. Thank you again. On Monday, May 6th, the Cubs did their part in helping helping save the environment. The boys did a clean-up in designated areas of Hampton: Hampton: On Monday the 13tn, the Cubs had a bicycle ride in the area. They rode a healthy five miles or so. This also helped them earn their Cyclist Badge. On Tuesday the 7th the skies were cloudy and threatened rain any minute. That didn't stop the 1st Hampton Brownies from having a delicious cook-out. It took place at leader Cheryl Cheryl Waller's house. Twenty- iree girls attended. They played games outside until dinner. The girls sat long enough to enjoy a traditional barbeque of hot dogs and other fine treats. Later, the Brownies helped plan their meals for camp, which is to take place June 21-23. Everyone enjoyed some fine card playing on Wednesday night. Ruby Smith took first place with 100. Second with 96 was Richard Potter. Bernice Renton Renton had 87. Meta Swain was fourth with 82 and close be- hind with 81 was Steve Ar- tym.. Bernice Renton also won the Most Lone Hands with six. Most Honest player went to Helen Gilroy. Daisy Bell won the Special. Draw winners were Marg Hall, Laurna Swain, Doreen Fer- g ison, George Gilroy and oug Renton. On Thursday, May 9th, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Greenaway Greenaway of Bobcaygeon celebrated celebrated their Diamond Wedding Wedding Anniversary. Mrs. Greenaway's son, Fred Payne of Hampton and his wife, Isabel, spent the day with them. Highly respected and well known, the Greenaways were long time residents of Hampton before moving to Bobcaygeon after retirement. retirement. .
