Dorothy McIntyre welcomed welcomed all to this evening of sharing. We sang our grace and proceeded to the C.E. Hall to enjoy the wonderful array of delicious dishes set out on the buffet table. Following the meal, Pres. Dorothy McIntyre gave opportunity opportunity for announcements announcements from the various churches. El dad Church has graciously offered to host another another Ecumenical Supper on May 5 of 1992. We are all looking forward to it. As we became "full" and sat back to relax, Dorothy McIntyre, Joan Russell and Kathy Makxam led us in a Worship Program with various various readings about "Kindness." "Kindness." We joined to sing two hymns, "They'll Know We Are Christians By Our Love" and "Pass It On", accompanied accompanied by Edna Laird on piano. Dorothy, Joan and Kathy sang a trio "Bridge Over Troubled Water" with a beautiful piano arrangement arrangement played by Glenda Hull, our special guest. Vice-Pres. Ruth Geddes introduced our special speaker, Glenda Hull, who is a resident of Bowmanville and a very busy person. Her top priority is taking care of her family but . sne also teaches choir music at Knox Christian High School, Bowmanville. Bowmanville. In addition, she. plays the organ and is very active at her home churcn Zion Christian Reformed Church in Oshawa. We are also pleased to have her at Maple Grove as our organist ana choir leader. Glenda spoke about "Life with Music." Music." As she traced through her life for us, we realized that Music did indeed play an important part in her life. She feels tnat music is the expression of our innermost innermost feelings and can be very therapeutic when coping coping with stress. She feels that children should be encouraged encouraged very early in life to participate in some way in music as it can help form bonds with others and is also a healthy form of release release for energy. Glenda's wonderful talents talents in music are truly gifts from God and everyone present was moved as she concluded with a unique piano piano arrangement of "Sweet Hour of Prayer." Edna Laird thanked Glenda for coming to speak and presented her with a token of our thanks. Pres. Dorothy McIntyre thanked each and everyone who had taken part in any way too make the evening such a success. Chapter Wins High Honor The Durham Chapter of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Fibrosis Foundation (CCFF) has been named the Foundation's Foundation's Chapter of the Year. The national award which recognizes the excellence excellence in the areas of fundraising, fundraising, public awareness and member support, was accepted by Durham Chapter Chapter President, Gordon Thow, at the GOFF'S Annual Meeting Meeting in Windsor, on May 3rd. The Durham Chapter raised over $90,000 in 1990, more than 60 percent overs its budgeted figure. Nineteen-ninety Nineteen-ninety marked the second second consecutive record- breaking year for the Chapter, Chapter, which was commended for its diversified fundraising fundraising program and exceptionally exceptionally strong communications efforts. Cystic fibrosis, a genetically genetically transmitted, incurable disorder, affects primarily the lungs and the digestive system.
