Bridge Joins Old and New Communities in Newcastle Village ine uanadian Statesman, tiowmanville, May 'ZZ, 1U91 V v ; A Week at Queen's Park.... by Gord Mills, MPP ÉÜSüPüPS" ""1 A bridge linking the new Foster Creek- development with the historic core of Newcastle Village is nearing completion. The. Edward St. Bridge, shown above, is receiving a. few finishing touches hut should soon be open to traffic. The cost of the link is approximately if'j h V % 11 5 * § ; i Si $740,000 and that amount is being paid entirely by developers. Foster Creek Developments is paying most of the cost, with Pen West Developments also sharing a portion of the expense. Last week the Conservatives Conservatives continued to hijack government business at Queen's Park. They are also preventing parliamentary committees fron meeting. As a result, witnesses, many of whom have travelled great distances to come and speak to the Committee, were forced to go home. As I pointed out last week, the Conservatives tactics tactics are draining the public purse of over $1 million per week. Under these circium- stances, it's quite ironic that Mr. Harris calls himself the tax fighter. Last Monday, the Government Government House Leader called on the Speaker to use his prerogative to end the Conservatives' attempt to paralyse the Legislature. The Speaker will make his ruling on May 27th. **** As the Parliamentary Assistant Assistant to the Solicitor General, General, I attended two special Police Week events last week.
