There is yet another public meeting on Tuesday, July 9th at 8 p.m. downstairs in the Hampton Town Hall. Your attendance would be greatly appreciated. appreciated. Wednesday was yet another another busy day. The Pee Wee girls baseball team is hot this year. The girls played a great game against Tyrone. The final score was a tie, 33-33! Home runs were hit by Ranny Cannito, Amy Dredge and Julie Van- gihaven. Keep it up girls. Wednesday's Euchre Card Party produced some low scores. Everyone had a great time though. Ada Richards was first with 77. Bernice Renton and Loma Swain tied for second with 76. Not far behind were Agnes Schofield with 75 and Barb Cochrane with 74. Doreen Doreen Ferguson had the Most Lone Hands with five. Vi Ashton was the night's Most Honest Player. Draw winners winners were Leona Wright, Ruth Farrow, Ailen Turner, Ace Richards and Dave Hall. The Brownies went camping camping this past weekend. Twenty girls bunked in the large cabin at Camp Samac in Oshawa. Their theme was "Sea Life". The girls had previously previously made costumes of underwater life to bring with them. There were starfish, starfish, wreaths, seaweed, whales, dolphins and even an octopus. While they were there the Brownies were able to earn up to five badges. They played games and even had an obstacle course. They also made Bannock, an Indian Indian batter that was used to dip hot dogs into and were cooked on sticks over the campfire. Everyone had a great time. All arrived home safely on Sunday. The weather was cooperative cooperative for Sunday's Church Services at the Hampton Park. Sandy and Shirley Abernethy provided the beautiful music with their violin and accordian. Afterwards everyone had their fill of the pot-luck luncheon. Following that the festivities began. All had a great time participating participating in the balloon toss, sack race, three-legged race and the land ski was great to watch. There was even a scavenger hung. Over 50 people attended tne joyous joyous event. The day ended at around 2:30. I would like to do a follow up on the previous piece I wrote about the team of B.C.ers climbing Mt. They arrived at the highest peak of 20,320 feet on May 30th! The climb took about three weeks but only took a couple of days to come back down. The big delay was a five day storm at the 17,000 foot mark. That was when boredom set in. The weather conditions are the hardest thing about climbing climbing such mountains. It was unfortunate that Terry Baum had to abandon the climb because of severe foot blisters, which could have resulted in blood poisoning. However, Mike Taylor, Doug Whale and Jon Heshka were triumphant in reaching thë top. Once there, they took pictures and Mike buried a Cancer Society Pin in the Summit. The team would like to thank the local Girl Guides and the Best Western Western Cowichan Inn and the countless others that helped them raise about $20,000 for cancer research. Our family was glad to hear that Mike was home safely. Thanks to Aunt Been for keeping us informed informed all the way across the country. News and Events From Clarke H.S. Ms. Wilcox and Ms. Moran are transferring to East Northumberland S.S. in Brighton. Mr. Keith Nicholas, Head of the Music Department, is trading jobs with Mr. Dan Kapp, Head of Music at Cobourg D.C.I. ", Mr. Russell, the Vice-Principal for the last two years, is transferring to Brookside Secondary School in Cobourg. We will all miss these outstanding educators. -All brought a real concern ".for the education of their students and we wish tljem well in their future. They have all contributed to ;the education of their students in many ways and Will contribute in their new positions. ; Young Fundraisers Help Sick Kids' Hospital Two classrooms of primary and junior students participated in a fund-raiser for the Hospital for Sick Children during the past school year. The students in grades one, two, four, and five sold freezies during the morning recess. And profits from the project were donated to the Hospital for Sick Children. On Friday, June 21, the proceeds from the project were turned over to the school's principal, Ron Cameron, who will be making the donation to the hospital on behalf of the students. As the over-sized cheque indicates, the students raised $227.50 this year. 1st Vaper 2nd Gotten 3 f d Leather 4-th flowers 5 th Wood 6th Iron 7th Wool 8 th 'Bronze Qth Vottery 10th Tin Or show a bit more imagination.
