That is what happened happened on June 18th when the Oshawa TM club joined us. One position filled at every every meeting is that of the grammarian, who not only spies for bad english but also presents the meeting with a word of the day. Last week's work was oscillate (to swing). The word fit the meeting as just about everything everything oscillated back and forth between Bowmanville (B) and Oshawa (O) Toastmasters. Toastmasters. The meeting was chaired by Connie Nelson (B) with the help of Pam Norbraten (O) as table topics master, Sher Leetooze (B) as Toastmaster Toastmaster and Dave Chilvers (O) as general evaluator. Best speaker was won by Marg Kropf (B) for a very touching tale of Katey and the Cat. Best Evaluator went to Wayne Norbraten (D). Best Table topics went to Mat Parliament. The business meeting was once again dominated by the question we talked about here last week. Should a toast to the Queen at the beginning of the meeting meeting be dropped? This week the loyalist seemed to have the upper hand on the debating debating floor. Avril Bums (O) delivered an emotionally charged rebuttal in the Queens favor, scoffing at the 'minor' people who might be offended by such a toast. Avril Avril won the Spark Plug trophy trophy for her efforts but once again a vote could not be taken due to time constraints. constraints. This issue is clearly not dead, nor will it go away without a vote but now that summer is here the debate may have to continue in September. Once again I enjoin you Cancer can be beaten.
