He has agreed to write to The Statesman on a weekly basis to give readers some helpful tips and ideas about fishing. "We write for expression expression and read for understanding." understanding." Countless books, magazines magazines and articles relating relating to fishing, have been written over time. The truth is that nothing can replace or equal time spent on the water, but we can use the experience and writings of the pros to make us better fishermen. fishermen. It's very unlikely anyone anyone will or could remember remember everything they've read on fishing, but given a known set of circumstances circumstances you can use the experts' teachings to score. Let's assume you're like me and receive or buy some of the various monthly fishing magazines. magazines. You probably have a stack or stacks in the basement or on a book shelf somewhere collecting collecting dust. One of the biggest problems, of course, is being able to sort through this information. information. Here's a good idea for those old gems. Take the time to go into a stationery store and buy an accordion type folder, the ones people people use to sort and keep their monthly bills. Cut or photocopy the articles you think are good. Now take and label the file folder with headlines such as Lures, Water Conditions,^ Bass, Walleye, Walleye, Pike, Temperature, Cold Fronts, and file them away. The next time you go fishing, try to figure out the lake and weather conditions conditions in advance and see what the pros do when faced with similar conditions. Simply match the conditions ana look in your files to see what might help on that big trip. Who knows? It may help you land that trophy that's always just one cast away. If not, at least your old magazines are now starting to pay some dividends and will for years to come. 1 £ Deductible i -) on Windshield Replacements I FREE MOBILE OR PICK UP SERVICE FOR CUSTOMER CONVENIENCE * \ % ■cz FOR 24 HOUR SERVICE JUST CALL I "Locally owned and operated' by Glen Morris '"^Baseline Rd.
