Watching the loyal fans sit in the stands covered in jackets, blankets, sleeping bags and anything else just to keep warm really was an interesting sight. In Street Stock, Mosport International Speedway regular regular Andy Warbutton, of Oshawa, didn't let his loyal fans down as he once again commanded this race (as well as a heat earlier in the the start/finish Tine grabbing grabbing the checkered flag. Rod Marshall, of Cavan, put up.a good fight to earn second place (as well as winning a neat race earlier in the night) and taking third with lots of hard charges was Bob Kish, also from Oshawa. In Sportsman, a new name surfaced as the win ner of the feature event. In a race that saw lots of passing. passing. dices deep in the pack, and plenty of fender-to- fender action, Alex Jordan, of Mississauga, held off all challengers and won the event. Not far behind him was regular Jr. Regan (who won a heat race earlier in the evening) of Angus and in third place was Neil Fair, of Ancaster. In Late Model, regular Tom Milligan, of Newmarket Newmarket (who also won a heat race) put on a show as he led the race and won it. Following Following Milligan was Dave Taylor, Taylor, of Caesarea (who won a heat-race) and taking third was Rino Montanari, of Stouffville. This weekend is the second second last Saturday night of racing at Mosport International International Speedway. Then, the weekend of September 14-15, the GM Motorsport 200 race takes place. Highway 57 rivals, the Port Perry MoJacks, have been added in a home and home series, bringing the total number of exhibition exhibition games to six. . The Eagles will travel to Port Perry for an 8:00 p.m. game on Thursday, September 19. The Mo- Jacks will make a return trip to Bowmanville the following Thursday, also for an 8:00 p.m. start. Rookies trying to crack this year's lineup were out in full force last night (Tuesday) at the Recreation Recreation Complex for the first night of try-outs. Close to 40 hopefuls were expected expected to be looking to grab one of the seven, possibly eight, spots open on the team. With the veterans not having to report to camp until Sunday, the Eagles will go with a rookieladen rookieladen lineup Friday night in their first exhibition game in Uxbridge. The first pre-season home game for the Eagles will be at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 15 against Uxbridge. The following Sunday, the Eagles' executive plan to snow their appreciation appreciation to their many loyal loyal fans. The game against the Cobourg Cougars has been deemed 'Fan Appreciation Appreciation Night.' All fans attending attending the game will be admitted free of charge. So far, the club has filled one of its two overage overage positions. Goaltender Chris Massey, who played brilliantly through last year's playoffs, will return to the team.
