'Elvis' Brings Credentials To Performance in Town Although singer Randy "Elvis" Friskie has been performing performing his tribute to Elvis Presley for five or six years, he has never tried to convince the audience that he really is Elvis. And Friskie believes that's the secret to his success. "I'm not trying to be Elvis," Elvis," he said in an interview with The Statesman recently; And, in this way he differs from many impersonators and look-alikes who really think they are The King of Rock and Roll. Instead, Randy Friskie tries to give his audience the impression of what it would have been like to see Elvis Presley in one of his live shows. This means, for example, that instead of trying to move like Elvis, Friskie simply does his own moves. "When I get up there, I give everything everything I've got," he explains. And, not .surprisingly, many fans will claim after one of Friskie's shows that he moves exactly die way "The King" moved. Friskie will be bringing his Elvis tribute to Bowman- ville's Castle Hotel this Saturday Saturday night. He will perform at Rumours Lounge commencing commencing at eight p.m. His show, which is in three parts, traces Presley's career through the fifties, sixties, and seventies. "I've been an Elvis fan ever since I was a little guy. I was brought up in a musical family," recalls Friskie when he talks about how he began his association with the music of Elvis Presley. At the World's Fair in Vancouver, he performed in the Elvis, Elvis, Elvis which broke attendance records. He has performed as Elvis at the Canadian National Exhibition Exhibition for two years and his tyiee£ùty&... career has also included numerous numerous shows in Las Vegas and even an Elvis movie entitled entitled "It's Only Make Believe." Believe." Randy Friskie is currently touring clubs across Ontario with his Elvis tribute. He recalls that there were 270 Elvis look-alikes trying out for the motion picture part; ■ Less is More A simple oil and filter change is the best thing you can do for your car.
