Charlie and Kathy have both been active in the local political scene. Real Estate is again on the move in our Hamlet of Yelverton. Yelverton. Mr. and Mrs. Bugg and boys are displaying a "Sold" sign this week in their residential residential property south of the village. village. Can't imagine anyone wanting to leave our fair community!?? community!?? Of their own free will that is. Another "For Sale" sign has also sprung up in our thriving (tongue-in-cheek) metropolis. metropolis. The past couple of weeks we have had some 50-60 overnight overnight guests drop in every evening evening and leave again first thing in the morning. In case you hadn't guessed, our guests were Canada Geese that spent the night in the wheat fields across from our domicile. Quite an impressive gathering. Ralph and Linda Pfoh recently enjoyed a tour to the northern climes of our Province when they took a popular northern tour known as the Polar Bear Express. Apparently it was most enjoyable because of its scenic qualities. Congratulations to Mrs. Moira Fallis and her group of "Clogging Grandmothers" who recently appeared in the Roy Thompson Hall and received well deserved accolades for their efforts. No doubt considerable considerable credit for their success was due to the enthusiasm and high energy provided by Moira. Moira. Mrs. Fallis resides in the Fleetwood Trailer Park in Manvers Twsp. on Highway 35. On Friday evening we enjoyed enjoyed a brief visit with Ruth and Ralph Malcolm at Mrs. Hendersons residence in Bethany Bethany while they were spending spending a few days there with Ruth's mother. Former residents of our community Fred and Peggy Stacey have sold their domicile at Wilmot Creek Newcastle and anticipate moving to Lindsay Lindsay in the near future. A busy weekend locally as a number of events vied for attendance attendance of our residents. At least two local weddings involved involved some of our citizens as did Blackstock Fair. Of special interest to a number of local dudes and dudes ses was a special special event held at the home of Pamela and Bob Carmichael and girls on Saturday afternoon and evening west of Lotus. The event had something for evciy- one in attendance - around 35 adults and countless children. It was a very well organized event with volley ball, badminton, badminton, and horse shoe pitching contests for the adults (a lady and gent competition). To our surprise the overall winner of the Horseshoe pitching contest were our long suffering wife Corrie and son Marti. Must admit admit the contest did not with the calibre of the McLaughlin brothers. For the children were unlimited opportunities for participation participation regardless of age. A sandbox for the young and young at heart, slides, swings etc. and tree house, all kinds of organized races with lots of prizes for the winners. The swimming pool was in keen demand by the children with pony rides for the equestrian set as well. At early evening, a delicious delicious meal was provided from a porker that Bob had been B. B. Qing all p.m. and unlimited quantities of salads etc. plus many dozen of tasty roasted com. Following this a bonfire with marshmallows for the younger set and socializing for all and sundry. All in all it was a heck of a good day enjoyed by all for which we express our appreciation appreciation to Pam and Bob and a number of their helpful volunteers. volunteers. Guests were from Toronto., Toronto., Mississauga, Ajax, Peterborough, Peterborough, Dunsford, Omemee, Lindsay, Oshawa as well as our local communities and some other spots we accidenta- ly missed. Our only local eatery in the Yelverton area east on 7A highway received a big of dubious dubious notoriety this week when a picture of their Billboard advertising advertising the Menu made its way into the Toronto Star weekend paper as follows "Weekend Special" "French Toast". Pancakes, Sausage and at the bottom of the Billboard "Worms". Wonder if they were served as an Appetizer or an Entree. Possibly a new form of "Escargot??"
