I ^ 5§, Rev. Canon Yates and Rev. C. Feddema were on hand last Wednesday evening, evening, Nov. 20, for the dedication of the chapel at Memorial Hospital Bowman- ville. The chapel, said Rev. Feddema, was just a dream 10 years ago. It recognizes recognizes the need for holistic healing--a blending of the physical, emotional and spiritual needs--for a healing of the whole person. Also helping to dedicate the chapel were members from the Bowmanvillc Rotary Club. They were on hand to help dedicate the chapel in memory of two former past presidents: Louis Dippell (1942-43) and Mel Dale (1947-48). Student Recalls Across U.S. History By Carolyn Barkey The trip which proved to be a trip of a lifetime began on July 16, 1991, when I joined a busload of 44 other students and two leaders, hailing from across Manitoba, Ontario and Newfoundland. This Oddfellow and Rcbc- kah sponsored Pilgrimage took the busload of delegates from Manitoba to Ottawa and south into the United States. In Ottawa Ottawa we learned more about our own countries confederacy and as we moved to the south we learned about the United States history. In Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania, we learned of the Civil War fought on the surrounding surrounding battlefields. The busload of students then moved on to more modem politics and arrived in Washington, Washington, D.C. After whirl-wind tours of the Washington Tower, Tower, Lincoln Memorial, The Capitol Building and of course JUDGEMENT DAY... FLEE THE WRATH TO COME! "... and every ... man ... said to the mountains... Fall on us, and hide us from ... him that sitteth on the ' throne ... For the great day of his wrath is .come: and who shall be_ able to stand?" Revelation 6:15-17 THE HOLY BIBLE the White House, the bus moved on. Though we had known each other for only a short period of time, already strong friendships friendships were forming on this bus, seemingly full of strangers. As laughter flourished and friendships friendships grew the bus moved on to the smallest state, Delaware. For the first time the Canadian delegates met delegates from across the state of Delaware. The next day we stopped in Philadelphia before our final stop in the Big Apple... New York! In New York I met with 140 other delegates coming from all across North America. Throughout the five days we compared cultures and accents during the busy schedule. The highlight of the trip was a two-day visit to the United United Nations Headquarters. Through lectures by Members of Secretariats we as students learned about the many functions functions the U.N. serves around the world. After the tour of the U.N. we spent our days touring the streets of New York. Quick visits to the Museum of Modem Modem Art, Empire State Building, World Trade Center, Trump Tower, Statue of Liberty and the theatre to view Les Misérables Misérables kept us very busy. After five exhilarating days in the huge city of New York we tearfully said goodbye to our new friends and boarded the bus to head back to Ontario. Ontario. During this trip the friendships friendships that were created will never be forgotten in the future. future. I would like to sincerely thank the Bowmanvillc Oddfellows Oddfellows and Rcbckahs for their generous support of the Pil grimage for Youth. This has been the greatest experience in my lifetime and it certainly is an experience never to be forgotten. forgotten.
