Education The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, Wednesday, January 15,1992 13 Students Learn About Crafts Made from Leather Bowmanville High School News Well, it is once again exam time at BHS. I've already done this semi-annual ritual over six times, so it's old hat to me, but I don't think that it ever gets easier. Every year the exams seem to get longer and harder. To some students the exam break is something to look for ward to. Seldom do people end up having to write more than seven exams. I only have four myself. Since we have two weeks in which time to write the exams it can be seen as somewhat of a vacation. Unfortunately, it's not that easy for everyone. Some people people spend hours upon hours, reading and re-reading their notes and textbooks. People like that always scare me. I admire admire their will to study and succeed but by the same token I could never motivate myself to do things like recopy my Happenings at B.S.P.S. 1992 is upon us, and the hard workers, young and old (older) alike arc back at BSPS. As a parent of a BSPS student, student, I look forward to hearing all the school's exciting news again; all the helpful projects the students do for the community, community, the excellent record they maintain in sports, and their enthusiasm about sharing it with the residents of Bowmanville. That's what is so scary. How can I expect expect to succeed if I can't even studyproperly. It always seems as though no matter how hard I study as soon as I walk into school somebody comes up and asks me something that I don't know the answer to. I usually end up scurrying around the school trying to find the answer for myself. Invariably, Invariably, you can be sure that whatever it is, it isn't on the exam. The English exams, which are always first, start on Wednesday, January 22nd. My personal schedule isn't too hectic hectic this year, my exams are fairly well spaced out. But I can certainly sympathize with those who got stuck with two exams on the first day and two on the second. I have always done fairly well on my exams provided I paid attention all year and managed to end up with enough notes. If I had to give someone advice on how to write an exam the only thing I can say for sure is don't panic. panic. I only panicked once during an exam. That was grade 12 math. For some reason or another another I came across a question that I was sure I had never seen before, my entire life flashed before me and I started tracing a line of chain reactions that would be my educational demise demise as a result of a failing mark in grade 12 math. Well, I managed to get it together long enough to finish the exam and in the end my mark wasn't that bad and of course my life did go on, but for a few minutes there I was really worried. I would be interested to hear anybody else's views or experiences about exams.
