It is unfortunate however, that there seems to be an increase increase in crime in our area. Maybe it is the quaint, quietness quietness that is attracting it? I don't know. However, I must let you know that there have been three break-ins since the start of this year. Fortunately, no one has been physically injured, injured, although a lot of hard earned merchandise has been stolen. It is as though the person person or persons responsible for this appear to be flaunting their expertise. Two of these break- ins have occurred during midday! midday! It's pretty nervy, if you ask me. I wish I could say dumb, but no one has been apprehended apprehended so far. Folks, when going away for any length of lime, keep it to ■yourself. Sure you have to let one or two people know, so they can watch your house. Remember, Remember, a low of information is passed through the grapevine and you never know who is listening. listening. There arc a few things you can do to deter these criminals. Keep your papers coming, just have someone pick them up daily. Don't forget about those mail boxes. Have someone put out the garbage on the appropriate appropriate day. Buying timers for lights is a good investment. Maybe even one or two for your television and stereo. Make you house look like it's lived in. People, keep your eyes and cars open. I'd like to think we all share the common bond of wanting to keep our neighborhood neighborhood a safe and happy place to live in and raise our children in. The annual meeting of the Blackstock Agricultural Society Society will take place this Thursday evening Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. at the Blackstock Recreational Centre, Centre, not Jan. 25 as incorrectly reported in the Star last week. What a delightful time they all enjoyed and what a change from Christmas in this area. Ruby Johnson accompanied her daughter Linda and Norm Stiles, Paul and Diane of Woodvillc on a motor trip to Florida leaving on Boxiiig Day. They enjoyed the trip to the sunny south very much. It seems that they arc in trouble again. The kind volunteers volunteers have taken ill and one has had to drop out altogether. So, they arc again asking for a per son or persons to come forth. It need not be a male figure. The boys meet on Mondays from 6:30 - 8 p.m. at Hampton Junior Junior Public School. Without your help these energetic boys will not be able to have outings like camping, etc. Being an influential influential part of a growing boy's life is a rewarding experience experience in itself. Families in the News Edgar and Anne Emerson of Ncstlcton spent two wonderful wonderful weeks in Newfoundland recently, recently, travelling on Christmas Day from Toronto Airport. While there, they had an enjoyable enjoyable holiday with son lan and Carolyn Emerson, who arc on the teaching staff at Memorial Memorial University in St. John's, Newfoundland. Edgar and Anne met a good many of lan and Carolyn's friends and co- workers, and viewed the highlights highlights of the province. All in all a great trip. Seven year old Alanna Holland Holland of Cadmus, had an exciting exciting birthday celebration on Friday Friday evening when seven friends, her two brothers and grandma, Nota Fish, gathered at her home for supper and a parly. Blue Ray Inspection Night Held Blue Ray Chapter, No. 238, Order of the Eastern Star, had a good attendance held in the Masonic Temple on Thursday evening Jan. 9. W.M. Laura Alton assisted by W.P. Don Alton, extended a warm, fraternal fraternal welcome to District Deputy Grand Matron Sister Jean ' Simpson of District 11, Whitby, Whitby, who paid her official visit of inspection. After the business was dealt with, Sister Jean inspected the work of the officers. She was complimentary in her remarks and gave the officers a most encouraging report!
