On February 16 in Miami I suffered a freak accident. While diving back into first base, I jammed my fingers on my right hand. I heard them crack, but only thought they were jammed. I decided decided to get x-rays when we returned. And, on February 19,1 found out that my middle finger and ring finger were both broken. Although it may seem insignificant, it has been a hardship. I have had time to visit the Blue Jays and attended two games. I also met with several of them. I know Nigel Wilson personally, and spoke with him. I also spoke with Rob Ducey. However, my big thrill came when I became Dave Stcib's new car protector in the parking lot at Englcbcrt Complex Complex where they practice. His new red Porsche 944 turbo is nice. I sat in it. Dave, who I now know personally, gave me some autographs and some tickets. He also said he could get me scats in Toronto. Now, although my hardship sounds like a lot of fun, let me tell you this: I fell behind in school, had to watch my teammates play and may very well have cost myself a scholarship for next year. I.havc now returned to the ball field and have caught up on my school work. We have 15 games remaining, so I hope to get some at bats. I have managed managed to go two for seven from the left side and zero for four from the right side thus far. I have started a few games at second base and a couple in the outfield. We arc struggling with a 16-20 record overall. Our pitching has been great. However, as a team, we arc hitting hitting .230 and making three to five errors errors a game. I only hope that in my return I can help my team in need. Well, I haven't turned American on you, I still spell Canada, C-eh-N-eh-D- ell! See ya, Brendan P.
