The quilt was designed designed with her son in mind and entitled: Jeff's Music. Lois Alloway and Helen Lavender were two of the U.C.W. group members who organized organized the quilt fair which saw 55 quills presented for viewing. The Tyrone ladies ladies met in the CE wing in April with President Judy Westwood opening the meeting. She welcomed everyone and read "Keep us O Lord from Pettiness," Pettiness," followed by prayer. Minutes were read and approved. The suggested theme for the U.C.W. church service May 31st will be "Celebration of Women's Work". A committee to organize the service is Jacqueline Vancyk. Ruth Stavras- kas, Bessie Vancyk and Judy West- wood. - It was moved and seconded we give them money to work with. Correspondence was read and April birthdays of Senior announced. Jackie's Stewardship report included included continue saving stamps, pill bottles, bottles, soup labels, eyeglasses, etc. Dorothy Beech and Bessie Vancyk reported on the 30th anniversary Presbytery Presbytery meeting at Cambridge United Church in Lindsay. Scripture Scripture was taken from St. Mark chapter 32, Verses 32-36. "A Story of Easter" reading by Jean was followed by Prayer. Then the old hymn "In the Garden" Garden" was sung. Jean read "Spring Song" and "Easter" and closed with a prayer. Roll Call was answered by "What we were doing 30 years ago" by 15 ladies. ladies. Four ladies put on a skit entitled "Wanted A Housekeeper" - two old bachelors played by Ann Pleasance as Abe and Blanche Jones as Ike tired of their own cooking, peeling potatoes and mending were dressed in farm clothes and the ladies who answered the advertisement were Jean Slcmon as Olga and Mrs. Boggins - and Carol Southwell acted as Gertie Brass and Miss Charming - and as skits go - the two old gents decided to keep on batching it - and the ladies enjoyed the change of character. She was asked about the day light hours and remarked it was about 5 1/2 hours of light. 10:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. or so. Most of the folks she had contact with spoke of Hawaiian vacations. We have seen the Dog Sled races ' on T.V. from Anchorage to Nome -18 days - imagine being there to sec it for yourself, she said snow would be trucked back into town for these Spring Carnival Winter events. Brenda had taken quite a number of photos and had them in books for us to see. Oh yes and while she was still there, Susan the lady of the house had a 71b 3 oz. boy. Pat thanked Brenda with a small gift and we had our lunch while watching a tape of the scenery and happenings of her trip. UCW Makes Plans for May On May 13th ladies of Tyrone UCW were welcomed by Vice President President Ruth Stavrakas who opened the meeting by reading "A Prayer in Spring." Minutes were read by the secretary and approved. May 31 our UCW ladies ladies are taking the service and there will be lunch afterwards. Some volunteers were Carol Southwell, Elsie Roy and Jean Slemon Slemon - then there will be others for usherers and taking collection - as well as giving toward lunch.
