Fireworks Display Needed Approval For July 3rd Date On July 3, fireworks will light up an Orono resident's backyard, in a belated July 1 celebration. But the Orono resident had to receive special special permission from Newcastle Council in order to hold a fireworks display after July 1. "Every year, our family holds a family gathering on July 1 complete with fireworks," said Ian Bathe. This year, because the July 1 holiday holiday happens in the middle of the work week, Mr. Bathe asked that an exemption be made so the family could hold their fireworks display on Friday evening, July 3. Mr. Bathe said the fireworks and family parly would be held at the Lynne Richards' property in Orono. Given that the regulations surrounding surrounding the usage of fireworks are "outdated" a town sub-committee will review them, said Mayor Diane Ham re. Mr. Bathe was given the go- ahead from council to plan his family's family's fireworks display for July 3. He is to do so in compliance with the other regulations set out in the by-law regarding fireworks.
