As you may know, it is their 30th Anniversary. The United Church Women's Inaugural Service for the Bay of Quinte Conference was held on Wednesday, January 31st, 1962 at Tabernacle United Church, Belleville Ontario. .. The first general meeting of Trinity U.C.W. Bowmanville was held on Tuesday, January 23rd at 7:30 p.m. in the S.S. Hall with Mrs. Rcta (Earl) Osborne as first president. To those who wonder, the purpose of the U.C.W. is "To unite all women of the congregation for the total mission mission of the church and to provide a medium through which they may express express their loyalty and devotion to Jc- sùs Christ in Christian Witness, Study, Fellowship and Service. On April 30th, many Trinity ladies attended the Ecumenical dinner at the Pentecostal Church to share food and fellowship with over 400 ladies of this community. All the Trinity U.C.W. and many other ladies and gentlemen worked long and hard to serve approximately ,400 people with 39 take out meals at the Salad Luncheon. Sincere thanks to all. In May, the Abigail Unit met and celebrated with readings and discussion discussion both "Spring" and "Mothers". The Anna Unit cancelled their May meeting because of all the activities in which the ladies were involved. The Esther Unit had a very entertaining entertaining meeting in the Church Hall. The program consisted of 1. Miss Jill Fanning.reciting for the group two of her award winning speeches (1) My Adoption (2) What it is to have a tumor tumor 2. Miss Jody Richards (Trinity) and Miss Caroline Perry (Newcastle) accompanied by Mrs. Marg Williams, who rendered several beautiful vocal selections. 3. Mrs. Pat Prout at the piano accompanied accompanied Mrs. Ruth Cowlc who played several pleasing selections on her "omni" (a unique instrument). Also in May the Anna, Abigail and Esther units served a Lions Club dinner, dinner, convened by the Anna Unit. (P. & P.) iSiÉü The ongoing renovations at St. Paul's United Church formed the background setting for a major event Tuesday evening, June 2nd, when two distinguished visitors were welcomed by a large crowd. They were Ontario's Minister of Citizenship, the Hon. Elaine Ziemba and the Durham East Member of Provincial Provincial Parliament, Cord Mills. The purpose of their visit was twofold: to congratulate the congregation of St. Paul's for including in their renovation plans, improved access facilities, and to present a cheque for half of a $30,000 grant from the government to help pay for those improvements. The balance will come on completion of the work. Taking part in the special ceremony were Rev. N. E. Schamerhorn who welcomed welcomed the guests, the Fund Raising Chairman Don McGregor and Building Chairman Alex Balcer. Refreshments Refreshments were served following the presentation of St. Paul's church history books to the guests by Mrs. Don McGregor.
