Catharines. A large crowd thoroughly enjoyed enjoyed the music and the antics of this, fun-loving men's group. Those who missed the evening certainly were the losers. Preparations will be underway all week for the community centred Blackstock Fair on Saturday with the Demolition Derby on Friday evening. Any members of the community who are not directly involved are invited to come to the fair grounds to help with the countless set-up tasks any evening. Wes Pearce celebrated his 91st birthday last Saturday with a party of 17 relatives in attendance at Haugen's. Wes has now taken up residence in Room 24 at the Port Perry Villa. He certainly does enjoy visitors. Happy Birthday. Mrs. McArthur of Pertcrborough will be visiting Blackstock this Saturday Saturday (fair day). Any friends who wish to sec her may call at the McArthur/ Martyn home from 2-4 p.m. On Sunday afternoon a Tripp family family picnic and bridal shower was hosted by Jackie James at the beautiful new home of Todd and Lori-Lee James in honor of Angela Nogg and her groom- to-be Corey Barr. About 60 family members attended. After Angela and Corey opened the many beautiful gifts, they thanked everyone for the best wishes and gifts. Dolly and Ken Lee has had Dolly's sister Carol spending a few days with them. Sympathy is extended to Carol on the recent loss of her husband. Over the weekend Peter and Anne Vandcrheul visited their son Boyd Vanderhcul who has moved from Newfoundland to Ottawa. There were eight tables at the Tuesday Tuesday evening euchre party with the following following winners: Ruby Smith, Loma Swain, Merv Storrie, Norman Rohrer, Doreen Ferguson, George Harper and Ruby Cochrane. Draws were won by 3 Norman Rohrer, Charlie Campbell, Rcta Storrie and Loma Swain. Helen Bradbum has just recently returned returned from an enjoyable DeNure Tour to the Maritime ■ provinces with her friends Jean Slemon, Dorothy Beach and Ann Taylor. This is a very popular trip as Loma Edgcrton and Bessie Crawford had enjoyed it during July. :nce 4H Field Crops Club Holds Final Meeting Elizabethville News by Edna Thickson - 797-2619 On Wednesday many seniors gathered gathered at the Bartholomew Farm for their fall picnic. There was musical entertainment as well as barbecued hamburgers and salads for the picnic. On Thursday about thirty gathered at the Canton township building for our weekly games. On Sunday we had to have the church service at Canton church due to rain. Not as large a crowd as usual. David Potter was our guest speaker. Next Sunday services will be at Jane Pinchin's at Welcome with Rev. Sedgwick Sedgwick speaking. On Saturday tire men were at Dorothy's Dorothy's house fixing up a wagon. The gentleman that is cataloguing the articles articles with a friend was there working. Mrs. Lewko had a friend, Mr. Hc- rinck, from Toronto, on Thursday and Bill and Evon Hoy on Wednesday. Mr. Jim Hoy was celebrating his 95th birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Trcw entertained entertained Mr. David Trcw'and daughter Shona from Spruce's Grove, Alberta, who wére visiting with them. They had a family gathering one day and had Sharon, William and family, Ro- seneath, Joan and Wayne and family, Gore's Landing; Helen, Chris and Amy, Sterling, Neil and boys, Mary Benson and a girl, Bewdley, attended. Andrew and Ingrid Peacock are with Shane and Sophia in Toronto for a few days, while their three children are with their grandparents Jackson and Susan. They also visited with a minister at New Hamburg who had been their minister in Newfoundland a few years ago. Shirley , and John Yarema are still away on holiday and Evelyn and Barry Barry Burton left on the week-end. Mae Muldrew had Shirley and Bruce who brought a dinner for supper on Sunday. Sunday. Clarence and Betty Mercer, Orley and Inez Mercer, Howard and Vivian Quantrell and E. Thickson spent Sunday Sunday with Elmer and Pearl Elliott at their cottage on Scugog lake. The meeting was opened by Tim Dair with the 4-H Pledge, followed by Brad Found reading the minutes of the last meetings. We reviewed the information information from our books for the last few meetings because we had been field trips. Mr. Bowman discussed with us how we could display our field crops. It has been such a late season that the usual method for display is not possible. possible. The dreaded "quiz" was next. I don't think it was as bad as we had anticipated. anticipated.
