Kate, a lyric soprano, has a passion for turn of the centuiy songs and invited the audience to participate in many , of printed songs on program sheet. She is of course a classically trained musician and recently appeared appeared in C.B.S, series "Top Cops and return of Kung Fu." In December she will again be filming a Canadian movie movie "Black Holes and Othér Mysteries." Mysteries." McKew is also a professional and a baritone and long time Barbershop- per. He writes, produces and directs many shows. He also has appeared in lead roles in musicals and plays. Pianist Norman Abbot, another professional musician who is also voice coach at Royal Conservatory of Toronto and pianist for Ryerson Theatre Theatre School. Also a cellist and assistant conductor of York Symphony Orchestra Orchestra and church organist. Act 1 takes place in early 1900's. Backstage in an old Vaudeville Theatre Theatre (This time in Old Orono Town Hall) and Act 2 - later the same day. Party The annual U.C.W. general Christmas Christmas party, took place Thursday evening evening in Main Hall of Orono United Church. Of course the hall was decorated decorated with Christmas trees and the tables tables were attractive with pretty place mats, courtesy of Dorothy Barnett, unit #1, and candles. A help-yourself buffet of salads and hot casseroles encouraged encouraged the ladies to again overindulge overindulge and needless to say the dessert table didn't want for attention! The Christmas tree on stage had a well-filled box of groceries for the "Food Bank". Thanks to all who donated. donated. President Thelma Gilbank welcomed welcomed all, and Carols were sung with Joyce Gray at the piano. President read a poem "The Innkeeper". Ruth Grady secretary read minutes of previous previous meeting. Adele McGill handed out financial statements and gavé a very encouraging report re finances. Roll Call of units given and we welcomed welcomed 1 visitor Mrs. Hilda Wright, Durham Srs. Complex. All groups brought good reports and a long list of catering jobs were read and approved for next year. Donna Scott presents the 1993 budget, and recommends U.C.W. donate donate $2000.00 to church, for kitchen renovations. Nominating committee reports given by Shirley Moffat. Betty Chatterton gave the "In Memorium" of departed members. Some names mentioned - Vilda Cowan, Cowan, Myrtle Reid, Dora Plain, Elsie Korpatawa, Elsie Hoar and Helen Fee. All unit reports were encouraging. Thelma Vagg gives the social reports reports and Leila Werry reports fifty cards were sent folks in our areas 80 years and older. Dorothy Barnett gave an excellent "Supply dept, report, of quilts, stamps, used eye glasses, Campbell's soup la-" bels and used clothing sent to men's hostel and Denise House. The ladies of unit #4 gave a beautiful beautiful Christmas devotional "A wreath of Christmas", Shirley Moffat gave the scripture readings to go along with the pretty decorations, to be placed on wreath, the following departments were placed. Hope, Joy, Guidance, Praise, Worship, Love, Light and Life. Ladies taking part - Marie Tam- blyn, Ruth Grady, Thelma Vagg, Betty Betty Chatterton, Donna Scott and Doreen Doreen Wood. This review is being conducted pursuant to the requirements of the Class Environmental Assessment for Municipal Sewage and Water Projects.
